It’s almost hard to believe, but it’s been nearly 4 years now since a new Dynasty Warriors game has hit the scene. The series was once one of the most steady releases from Koei Tecmo, but after Dynasty Warriors 9 tried some new things that didn’t quite hit, it went somewhat dormant. That will change with Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, a reworked version of that game. While the game was once planned for this year, it was hit with the delay bug awhile back. However, you should be able to try it out relatively soon.
The publisher announced today that a demo would be coming. It will feature playable scenarios based around the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Red Cliffs, two well known events in the ever retold narrative. Unfortunately, no date was given for when to expect the demo, but considering how the game is set to launch in just a few months, it should be fairly soon. You will also be able to transfer character customization data from the demo to the main game, which you can see a little of through here. It’s worth note that so far only a Japanese demo has been announced, with no mention of when a western-based version would come.
Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is set to release February 15th 2022 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch and PC. The demo has been announced for all those platforms with the exception of PC. We’ll keep you updated for when more specifics are released.
