Grand Theft Auto V Makes Fun of Call of Duty

I'm sorry, I really am.

Okay, last bit of GTA news from me today, I promise.

Since we’re posting about any and everything GTA related, why not talk about how the game, the latest in a line of games known for their satirical qualities, is taking aim at one of the gaming industry’s biggest juggernauts, Call of Duty?

In GTA 5, Righteous Slaughter 7: The Art of Contemporary Killing, a game developed by a company called Misfire Games, is advertised pretty prominently, as a ‘first person shooter like no other (except for the Righteous Slaughter 6 which was released 3 months ago),’ reports Eurogamer.

GTA 5 isn’t exactly subtle about it either: ‘Insurgents are killing orphans. They have nerve toxin and a nuke. You’re flashing back a lot telling a dramatic story cobbled together from assorted generic multiplayer levels so we could get the game made in time,’ it says, which is, admittedly, really funny.

The game goes ahead and advertises other features: online play (“so you know what real war will be like when the foreigners turn up on our door step”) and there’s even the promise of downloadable content. “Level up even faster!” it says. “Purchase upgrades so that you can destroy those with more skill and less money than you – just like in real life.”

Funny stuff, honestly. Not that such criticism has ever affected Activision before, though.
