Red Dead Redemption 2 Could Sell 6-8 Million In Its First Weekend, As Per Analysts

Red Dead Redemption 2

As one of the most highly anticipated games this side of 2010, everyone would have expected Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 to do exceedingly well. Which it will, most certainly- in fact, as per a new report by analyst firm Piper Jaffray (via WCCFTech), the game is on track to sell as many as 6 to 8 million units within its first weekend.

The firm believes that owing to the game being among the most highly anticipated games of the Holiday season, alongside Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, as well as the astoundingly high reception it’s been getting from critics all across the board, Rockstar’s latest will go on to have a very good weekend, and will gross in the region of $400-500 million in revenue. The firm’s report also estimates that by the end of the financial year in March 2019, the game will have sold between 18 and 20 million copies in total.

That’s less than their estimates for Black Ops 4’s sales, which they believe will have hit roughly 24 million units sold by December 2018. Piper Jaffray’s report mentions that as per their surveys, in terms of anticipation for games this Holiday season, Red Dead Redemption 2 was behind only Call of Duty: Black Ops 4– Black Ops 4 went on to gross over $500 million in three days, and while the firm doesn’t believe Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be at that same level, they do believe it’ll be in the ballpark.

None of this is surprising, to be completely honest. The hype and anticipated for Red Dead Redemption 2 has been unreal, and Rockstar games almost always sell like peanuts. Then there’s Red Dead Online’s launch next month, which will without a doubt be another major factor that boosts the game’s sales. The fact that it’s been getting rave reviews that are calling it one of the greatest games ever made will surely contribute significantly as well. Our own review will be going live soon, so stay tuned to GamingBolt.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
