Rockstar Games’ seminal 2018 open world title Red Dead Redemption 2 will soon be joining the Xbox Game Pass catalogue on Xbox One, Microsoft have announced. The game will join the service’s catalog on May 7, and can be pre-downloaded right now. May 7, however, will also see fellow Rockstar behemoth Grand Theft Auto 5 – which came to Game Pass in January – being removed from the service’s library.
Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in October 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, before coming to PC in November the following year, and has, to no one’s surprise, been a resounding critical and commercial success for Rockstar, having shipped 29 million units worldwide as of the end of 2019. In our review, which was full of high praises, we called the game “a landmark achievement for Rockstar, for open world games, and for video games as a whole.”
As one of the biggest and most highly acclaimed releases of this generation, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a great addition to the Xbox Game Pass lineup, and is certainly worth looking into if you haven’t yet given it a go. There’s no word yet on whether the game will also come to Game Pass on PC, but seeing as it launched on the platform not too long ago, that seems a little unlikely.
A recent report stated that Rockstar – who seem to be working hard to fix their notorious crunch culture – are at work on their next game, Grand Theft Auto 6, which will reportedly be a medium-sized game at launch, to be expanded with post-launch updates. Read more on that through here.
