About Hip-Hop
Hip-Hop was born in the 1970s in the Bronx and ultimately leading to the rap movement. The difference between the two is that Hip-Hop is more generic and encompasses more of a dance/party atmosphere. Hip-hop also is known to use looping and turntables. Kool Herc is credited with starting the Hip-Hop movement.
The Hip-Hop movement became popular and got its name from the Sugarhill Gang’s “Rappers Delight.” The name came from the hook of the song.
