About us
Guernsey Electricity is the sole provider of electricity in the island of Guernsey. Over 90% of our electricity demand is met through low carbon energy imported from the European grid. The remaining demand is topped up by locally-generated solar power and diesel generation at the Vale power station. At Guernsey Electricity, our mission is to deliver reliable, affordable electricity for the island’s sustainable future. Follow us to stay updated on our latest projects, sustainability efforts, and career opportunities. Powering Life, Today and Tomorrow.

Don't forget, clocks will fall back one hour this Sunday (27th October 2024). Remember to change ALL your clocks – including your hot water cylinder and heating – before you head to bed. The good news is that your electricity meter is designed to automatically update with the correct time, but it's best to double check. Just press the button on your meter, which will be either green or orange, and scroll through the display options until you see the date and time. From Saturday, 26th October we will be carrying out emergency repair work on Le Vauquiedor. This urgent work is being carried out after identifying an issue with a high-voltage cable. It is essential that the issue is addressed quickly to maintain a secure electricity supply. We anticipate the work to be completed by Tuesday evening (29th October). Access to the PEH will be from the Route de la Croix au Bailiff end (dairy) only for the duration of our works. We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience.

Does size matter? When it comes to hot water cylinders, it very much does. If you notice your hot water isn’t lasting through the day, it might be because your hot water cylinder isn’t the right size for your household’s needs. You may need to get a larger one installed to make sure you've always got enough hot water. If your cylinder is the right size, a few simple behaviour changes can make a huge difference too. For example: Try taking shorter showers to conserve hot water⚡. A 7-minute shower can use over 100 litres of water. Do it with the lights off: 11pm to 5am🌙 #hotwatercylinders #doitwiththelightsoff
