Thanks to the generosity of our amazing volunteers and donors, we raised GHS 19,105.27, enabling us to purchase two laptops, in addition to three donated laptops; and also host a celebration event for our second anniversary. During the event, we presented the newly purchased laptops and the three donated laptops to five women in the tech space who were selected from a pool of 67 applicants based on their talent, passion, and potential for success. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to FBN Bank Ghana for their invaluable partnership in helping us achieve our objective. We are delighted to report that the 2022 DFWWC program will be a year-long initiative that will provide ongoing mentorship, workshops, and support to our beneficiaries, enabling them to achieve their goals. We are grateful to everyone who helped us spread the word and contributed to our success. Today, we are celebrating Lakyiere Alice Bagyiereyele, a Master's student at KNUST who’s not just passionate about tech—she’s determined to use it to make a difference. Alice’s love for math and science naturally evolved into an interest in Machine Learning and AI. But it wasn’t just about theory for her—during her undergraduate studies, she worked on an AI-based Automated Irrigation System to help farmers in Northern Ghana tackle the challenge of unpredictable rainfall. This project sparked a deep passion for using tech to solve real-world problems, especially in agriculture. Alice’s journey has been all about learning, experimenting, and giving back. Whether she’s improving her skills in UI/UX design, or working on Data Science projects, she’s always pushing herself to grow. And she’s not stopping there—she’s also an aspiring front-end developer with a creative eye for building digital experiences. But what truly sets Alice apart is her belief in the power of women supporting women. She knows firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate the male-dominated fields of tech and STEM, and is committed to helping close that gap. Through internships, workshops, and volunteering, Alice uses her voice and platform to advocate for more representation and opportunities for women in tech. From problem-solving to leading with empathy, Alice is the kind of person who lifts others up as she rises.
