Last week, we attended the 3rd ESO Forum at the Labadi Beach Hotel. This year’s theme, "Shared Challenges, Shared Solutions: Value Creation for a Resilient and Inclusive Ecosystem," captured the event's spirit well. Unlike typical gatherings, the ESO Forum felt like a family coming together with purpose. One of the highlights was the collaborative work on the Shared Common Language Research, which aims to create standardized terminology for ESOs across Ghana. This initiative is not just about language, it’s about clarity, quality, and alignment across the diverse services ESOs provide. The committee’s updates underscored how a unified language can help us meet both national and international standards. The ESO Forum continues to be unique in its approach; going beyond the surface-level talk we sometimes see at similar events. This year was a powerful reminder of the real impact that collaboration can have. We shared, we brainstormed, and we supported one another in tangible ways that reinforced our shared mission. #GhanaESOForum24 #esoghana."

Please join us in welcoming the latest member to the YBI network, The Challenges Group. To date, they have worked in more than 70 countries supporting people and enterprises to work together to support their communities to have better access to goods, services and income. "We joined YBI at the perfect time, just before the Global Youth Entrepreneurship Summit," said their Director Shaun McLaughlin. "The opportunity to connect with the YBI team, fellow members, and the broader network couldn't have come at a better moment for Challenges. It embodied the idea that while you can go fast alone, together we can go further; and importantly, it's also more fun to do it with like-minded people." We look forward to working with this international support organisation.

We marked the end of pink October with an educative and screening session in partnership with ExpressMed Healthcare. Their team guided us through the importance of early detection, regular screenings, and breast health awareness. The session featured presentations on risk factors, self-exams, and the role of preventive care. “What do you do to self-check? Feel with your fingertips, press gently, and move in small circles covering every area from collarbone to armpit for any changes.” A big thank you to the ExpressMed Healthcare team for supporting us in taking steps toward better health. Together, let’s continue to raise awareness and advocate for accessible healthcare. #BreastCancerAwareness #pinkoctober24 #ChallengesGhana

Our 25th birthday celebration allowed us to bring people together to collaborate. We also had time to reflect on the work we do. When Eoghan Mackie founded The Challenges Group twenty-five years ago, the aim was to help people create impact through their purpose-led businesses and, from those learnings, to help others set up new purpose-led enterprises. Twenty-five years on, we continue to support enterprises to deliver better solutions to global challenges, and we continue to learn and adapt in how we do this, basing our programmes and services on what we have learned over the last 25 years. Watch our video to learn more about our 25th birthday event, the approach we take to supporting organisations, and our plans for the future

This week, a few of the international team are at the Youth Business International (YBI) Youth Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi catching up with old and new partners. Pearl Emefa Siale, PHRi. and Shaun McLaughlin are looking forward to delivering their workshop tomorrow, at 4pm, on " What Early-Stage Entrepreneurs Need vs. What They Actually Get" This interactive workshop will explore the common mismatches between the needs of entrepreneurs and the reality they encounter. The aim is to identify the most significant needs of early-stage entrepreneurs and brainstorm ways to close any gaps in the support they receive. The workshop will provide valuable insight to both entrepreneurs and the stakeholders who support them. If you are at the event and are planning to come along to workshop, we will see you tomorrow. #GYES2024 #Youthentrepreneurship
