About us
Ghana Standards Authority is an Agency of Government responsible for developing, publishing and promoting standards in the country. It does this through Standardisation, Metrology and Conformity Assessment activities. Some of these activities are testing, inspection and certification. These activities ensure that products or goods and services produced in Ghana, whether for local consumption or for export are safe, reliable and are of good quality. Vision To become a customer-focused world-class standards organisation. Mission To contribute towards the growth of industry, protect consumers and facilitate trade through standardisation, metrology and conformity assessment.

In a bid to serve citizens all over the country, the GSA on Thursday, November 7, 2024, opened two new offices in Hohoe and Dambai in the Volta and Oti regions respectively. Hon. John Peter Amewu, the Minister for Railways Development and Mp for Hohoe who was present during the commissioning of the Hohoe office, lauded the GSA for the initiative and assured them of his support in ensuring that his constituents and other citizens benefit from Standardisation.

On March 13th 2024, the Ghana Standards Authority announced mandatory labeling for iron rods and steel bars to enhance safety and compliance. Labels included manufacturer details, dimensions, and steel grade. Failure of manufacturers to comply to this directive would result in strict enforcement and potential punitive measures. #IronRodRegulations #SafetyCompliance #ManufacturingStandards

Three Technical Advisory Committees (TACs) to advise the Governing Board of the GSA on standards development, conformity assessment and metrology, were inaugurated at a short ceremony held at Standards Heights in Accra, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The Chairman of the GSA Governing Board, Prof. Felix Charles Mills-Robertson, who swore in members of the TACs, urged them to work to uplift the image of the institution.

The GSA joined the global community to mark this year's World Standards Day (WSD) with a Flag Raising Ceremony held at its head office on Monday, October 14, 2024. The WSD is celebrated every year on October 14 to raise awareness about the importance of standards and their impact on various aspects of lives as well as honour the efforts of various experts involved in standards development globally. The Director-General, Professor Alex Dodoo, and other dignitaries called on stakeholders and partners to collaborate with the GSA to help provide solutions for the country's current environmental problems as well as bring about sustainable development. Ms. Codie Aziz of Environment 360, gave a lecture on the topic: "RPET Standards Paving the Way for Sustainable Green Jobs and Investments in the Recycling Sector", on Day 3 of the World Standards Day (WSD) celebration. Some students were also given the unique opportunity to tour our accredited laboratories and other facilities. An exhibition and sale of certified products is still ongoing at our head office at Shiashie.
