🤝 #ghanatrip #ghana #westafrica #deerpark

Earlier this year students and staff from Cirencester Deer Park School in the UK 🇬🇧 spent 2 weeks in Woe, Ghana 🇬🇭. The students visited local schools in Woe, helping with construction projects 🛠️ and teaching subjects like English, Science, and Art 📚🎨. Afternoons were spent engaging in sports ⚽ and cultural lessons 🪘. The trip concluded with an awards ceremony 🏆 and a final celebration 🎉, with students reflecting on the profound experience and expressing gratitude 🙏 for the lessons and joy they shared with the Ghanaian community. The group returned to Deer Park inspired and proud of their contributions. From the Deer Park School teachers’ perspective, there was immense pride 💪 in seeing their students rise to the challenge of teaching local children and contributing to the school’s infrastructure. The experience also brought a deep appreciation for the resources that are often taken for granted. The students remarked that the Ghanaian students were some of the happiest they had ever met 😊, and their joy was contagious, with many students saying that they had never smiled or laughed so much on a trip. They felt that it was a remarkable and special experience ✨. Paterson Simons are proud to have added our support to this valuable experience for all involved! #ghana #ghanatrip #westafrica #deerpark

🌍 Port electrification – the challenges and opportunities of an electrified port industry⚡ 🌱 Globally, the port industry emits 10-15 MtCO₂e annually – equivalent to the total emissions of Slovenia. With the International Maritime Organization (IMO) targeting a 20-30% reduction in emissions by 2030 and 70-80% by 2040, port electrification is becoming essential. Why Should Ports Electrify? ✅ Reduced Emissions: By aligning with global efforts like the Paris Agreement, many ports are setting net-zero targets, recognising that fossil-fuel-based operations won’t be sustainable for long. ⚠️ With tightening regulations and the pressing 1.5°C global warming threshold, port operators need to act now, investing in green technologies to future-proof their operations. 🚛 By electrifying heavy-duty equipment like delivery trucks, straddle carriers, and terminal tractors, ports can decarbonise entire supply chains, supporting businesses and nations in their emissions goals.
