What an incredible journey at the Google AI4Healthcare workshop! 🚀 Over two days, I had the privilege of engaging with passionate experts, each offering unique insights into how AI is transforming healthcare, especially in Africa. The event kicked off with Abdoulaye Diack setting the stage with a clear vision of AI's potential for communities across the continent. From Leor Stern on AI in low-resource environments to Ernest Mwebaze on maternal health innovations, the talks were eye-opening. I was inspired by Darlington AkogoAkogo's bold AGI4Health initiative and @Umar Faruq Akinwunmi's vision for AI-powered community pharmacies. Tobi Olatunji MD focus on African-accented ASR errors highlighted the importance of inclusive AI solutions. Paulina Boadiwaa Mensah, MD and John Hammond showcased how AI can bridge healthcare gaps and support expectant mothers. Dr. stephen moore introduced AfriMed-QA, a game-changing tool for African healthcare professionals, while @Nana Kofi Quakyi presented decision tools tackling TB and antibiotic resistance.blown away by Fred Hersch work on Open Health Stack and Audace Niyonkuru LLMs empowering health workers in Rwanda. The innovative work of Dr. Marcin Sieniek with Gemma and Pandas and Peter Owotoki vision for Empathic AI truly stood out. Other highlights included Natalie M. , and Mercy Nyamewaa Asiedu, Ph.D. on tropical disease classification using AI. A big thank you to Google Ghana for hosting this powerful workshop! It’s inspiring to see AI unlocking new possibilities in healthcare.
