📍 Just a few months after our meeting in Greece and the visit to the new facilities of the DIMITRA cooperative, the BBTWINS project gathered again, this time in Munich! As we enter the final year of the project (!), the results from utilizing the digital twin technology are remarkable, unlocking many new opportunities for business growth. 🔎 The two case studies in this project involve the DIMITRA cooperative in Velvento, Greece, and PORTESA in Spain. The project's focus is on addressing the challenges within the EU's agriculture and food sectors. The digitization of our operations integrates us into a new era, where Europe must adapt to the digital age by enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of the supply chain. 🎦 Today, through VR, we experienced the entire production process step by step, incorporating all relevant data and selecting the most sustainable path forward. In simple terms, each company can digitally analyze every scenario before implementing changes in the real production process, knowing the outcome in advance. 🔸 CluBE’s role is once again crucial, not only supporting the DIMITRA cooperative in collaborating with the more technical partners throughout the project but also in studying and optimizing the value chains of both companies using the digital twin. A big thank you to StelvioTech for hosting this meeting! #BBTWINS #digitaltwins #traceability #sustainability #Farm2Fork #digitaltransformation #innovation #AI #dataanalytics #digitalization #technology Yannis Fallas Athanasios Lampropoulos Dionysis Loizos Christina Blachava

An Intense Week of Contrasting Developments for the Hydrogen Economy Last week brought mixed news for the hydrogen sector in Greece. Unfortunately, Advent Technologies' €64 million investment project in Kozani was removed from the Just Transition Fund, deemed “problematic” by officials on Monday 23rd of September. This project, aimed at establishing the first phase of innovative hydrogen fuel cell and electrolysis production facilities, has been suspended with limited explanation. This is a significant setback not only for Western Macedonia but for Greece's and Europe's ambitions in the hydrogen economy and clean energy innovation. We remain hopeful that there is still room for reevaluation of the project! Despite these challenges, I had the privilege of attending the H2MEET Fair and Conference in Seoul, South Korea, from September 25 to 27. South Korea is truly leading the way in the hydrogen economy, demonstrating what can be achieved when clean energy technologies are prioritised. At H2MEET, I presented the impactful work we’re doing at CluBE's Clean Technologies and Hydrogen Department, sharing our vision, projects, and progress. I also participated in over 20 B2B meetings with companies and organizations, exploring opportunities that could bring new investments to Western Macedonia. For more information about H2MEET and its global impact on hydrogen, visit: https://lnkd.in/dCi2ArHN A big thank you to KOTRA Athens Greece for the invitation to H2MEET. KOTRA, as the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, plays a vital role in fostering international cooperation, and I look forward to further exploring partnerships between Greece and South Korea. While Greece faces setbacks, we continue to press forward. We are committed to developing pilot and demonstration hydrogen projects, such as the LIFE GREENH2ORN project (https://lnkd.in/dnk5j-dd), which had its kick-off meeting last week in Kozani. Additionally, we are dedicated to supporting larger hydrogen investments (like Hellenic Hydrogen's investment in Amyntaio, Western Macedonia) and driving momentum toward a clean energy future in Western Macedonia and beyond. Though not everyone in Greece fully embraces the hydrogen economy yet, global and European developments make it clear that hydrogen is a crucial element in the energy transition. Let’s stay committed to building a hydrogen-driven future! 🌍 It was an honour to host the Scalable Cities secretariat in Kozani! As part of the Scalable Cities Roadshow, CluBE, in collaboration with GNE Finance— a leading financial institution focused on sustainability initiatives—organized a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) event dedicated to Positive Energy Districts (PED) and Positive Energy Neighbourhoods (PED). 💡 The P2P event welcomed the Municipality of Kozani and the Municipality of Eordaia as the two smart and climate-neutral municipalities of Western Macedonia. It also brought together forward-thinking municipalities, the cities Ioánnina, Megalopolis, Kifissia, and Lappeenranta (Finland), while Derry (Ireland), Botoșani (Romania), and Elbasan (Albania) joined the event virtually. All cities showcased their innovative efforts towards smart and climate neutrality. 🏡A highlight of the event was the participants’ visit to the transformation of a vulnerable household into an nZEB building and the tour of the neighborhood of Agios Dimitrios, which is going to be transformed according to the principles of New European Bauhaus in the framework of the Eyes Hearts Hands project. The event was an important opportunity for cities as they learned about the financial models and tools they can leverage on the road to climate neutrality, data protection (IPR, GDPR) and the next steps in view of the upcoming regulations ETS2. 🤝 Together, we're paving the way toward a greener, smarter future! #ScalableCities #Kozani
