New standards are being set in everyday task automation! Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Improbable AI Lab have developed a new two-finger robotic gripper designed to perform everyday tasks more effectively. The gripper, modelled after human fingers in both size and shape, can pick up and place objects of various shapes and textures and is able to handle simple tasks like placing dishes or picking delicate items such as strawberries. In real-world tests, the gripper performed well, demonstrating potential for future household robot applications. #robotics #ai #automation #householdrobots #engineering

What if AI could identify autism before symptoms appear? A recent study published in JAMA Network Open explored the potential of machine learning (ML) models to accurately predict autism spectrum disorder (ASD) using minimal background and medical information. The study involved over 45,000 participants and focused on developing an ML algorithm named "AutMedAI." The model achieved a prediction accuracy of 78.9%, highlighting its potential to be a reliable tool for early ASD detection without needing specialised behavioural testing. This advancement could reduce the socioeconomic and mental health burdens associated with ASD by enabling earlier interventions. #autism #machinelearning #autismawareness #earlydetection #healthtech #aiinhealthcare #medicalinnovation
