This week in Thessaloniki has been a milestone for advancing mental health care across the WHO European Region. 🌏 Beginning with the 1st ever WHO European Autumn School on Quality of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Care (2–6 November), we gathered experts to strategize on enhancing the quality of mental health services for children and adolescents. This was followed by an impactful 3rd Mental Health Week (6–7 November), which provided a platform for discussing cutting-edge research, tools, and innovations in mental health. 💡🧠 As we conclude this pivotal week, our WHO Office on Quality of Care and Patient Safety in Athens is honored to welcome Dr Natasha Azzopardi Muscat, Director of the Division of Country Health Policies and Systems, on November 8th. On 7 November, the 3rd #MHW focuses on Greece, bringing together experts and stakeholders to improve quality of child and adolescent mental health care. 🇬🇷 The Deputy Minister of Health of Greece Dr Dimitris Vartzopoulos opens the session with a very enlightening discussion, highlighting the progress of mental health in Greece. Key sessions include discussions on stakeholder collaboration, where Greek leaders in child and adolescent mental health care share insights and future goals. Participants are exploring case studies on family therapy, mental health empowerment, trauma care, and support for unaccompanied minors. 📣 3rd Mental Health Week 2024 Today, we are setting the stage for the 3rd Mental Health Week, 6-7 November, organized by the WHO Office on Quality of Care and Patient Safety in Athens and the Mental Health Flagship, with the support of the Greek government. This event serves as a platform for discussing new research, tools, and innovations aimed at improving mental health services for children and adolescents both in Greece and across the WHO European Region. 🧠 We had the honor to have with us the Deputy Minister of Health of Greece, Dr Dimitris Vartzopoulos and other key stakeholders in the field of child and adolescent mental health. Advancing quality of care through digital health 🌐 The WHO Office on Quality of Care and Patient Safety in Athens participated in the Health IT Conference, joining a panel discussion titled "From Digital Transformation to Effective National Health Service Management" alongside the Deputy Minister of Health of Greece, Dr Marios Themistocleous, and the Secretary General for Public Health, Dr Fofo Kalyva. The discussion highlighted how digital health is driving impactful improvements in quality of care across the WHO European Region. An impactful and fruitful week at the 74th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe! 🌍 🗳️ Election results: Dr Hans Henri P. Kluge has been nominated for a second term as WHO Regional Director for Europe by the Member States of the WHO European Region. His re-election reflects a shared commitment to advancing WHO’s vision for a healthier, more resilient WHO European Region. 💡Innovation: The WHO Office on Quality of Care and Patient Safety in Athens is launching for the second time the Meeting of the Minds in December in Athens. A brainstorming meeting that will bring together healthcare experts, policy makers and professionals to discuss innovative ways to improve quality of care and patient safety across the WHO European Region. 🇬🇷 Greek representation: Greece’s Alternate Minister of Health took part in pivotal discussions, ensuring Greece’s voice in shaping health policies at both European and global levels.
