GMHA’s Security team earned their recertification for using Defensive Tactics, Handcuffs, Mechanical Expandable Batons (MEB), and OCAT (pepper spray). Our Security team’s main focus is to employ peaceable methods of maintaining safety for our patients, visitors, and employees when possible. But when necessary, they’re highly trained and certified in the proper and correct use of implements to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations at the hospital and our Skilled Nursing Facility. Congratulations to our Security Team who recently completed the Basic Tactical Medic Course, or TacMed. The TacMed course curriculum is based on the core concepts of Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC). TECC is the civilian version of the military's Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and was developed to bring combat level of care to civilian first responders. Well done, Security Team!
