🌍 In Greece, the remnants of the village of Kallio are resurfacing after three decades. Record temperatures have caused the level of Athens' primary reservoir to drop, unveiling the abandoned structures of this village, which were submerged during the construction of the Mornos Dam. In light of this event, AFP has released a compelling Social Story that explains this phenomenon, which is the result of the prolonged drought affecting the country. Not yet a client? 📹 ❝ The spectacular decline of the journalism profession is met with alarming indifference. The worst part is that we are getting used to it. We are no longer surprised to read the grim tally of journalists killed in the line of duty, nor to learn, through an investigation by the collective Forbidden Stories, that of the more than 100 journalists killed in Gaza, several were clearly deliberately targeted, nor to hear that newsrooms are increasingly instructed to hide press armbands. It seems entirely normal to everyone that security budgets are rising exponentially in organisations involved in field journalism. ❞ ✍️ On the occasion of World News Day organised by WAN-IFRA, the World Association of News Publishers, AFP's CEO Fabrice Fries wrote an op-ed. ➡️ u.afp.com/5aFC 🤝 Alongside hundreds of other news organizations, media support associations, and individuals from over 100 countries, AFP has committed to raise awareness about World News Day – u.afp.com/5atL #AFP #journalism #WorldNewsDay
