  • ATAL Green Month Returns: From Trash to Treasure ATAL’s annual sustainability campaign, “ATAL Green Month”, has entered its second year and was fruitfully concluded. The theme of this year was "From Trash to Treasure”, aiming to encourage colleagues to optimise resource consumption and think outside the box to upcycle waste. The campaign featured six activities, including “Cherish Food Experience”, “Upcycling Photo Contest”, “Pop-up Recycling Station”, “Visit to O·Park1”, “Office and Construction Site 4Rs Seminar” and “Trashy Treasure Workshop”. Here are the highlights of the campaign. The activity "Cherish Food Experience" aimed to promote food waste reduction and show support to the community. ATAL volunteers cooperated with Food Angel by Bo Charity Foundation volunteers to prepare approximately 6,000 nutritious meal boxes from fresh ingredients donated by the catering industry for those in need. Moreover, ATAL volunteers joined the food collection volunteering work of the Hong Kong Federation of Women's Centres|香港婦女中心協會 to collect around 174 kg of surplus food from wet markets for sorting and distributing to the local community. We also organised a visit to O·Park1, Hong Kong’s first organic resources recovery centre. ATAL staff gained insight into the waste-to-energy system which converts food waste into biogas for electricity generation using anaerobic digestion technology. Some participants took O·Compost home as a souvenir for planting use, enjoying the benefits from closed-loop food waste recycling. Additionally, we arranged the “Trashy Treasure Workshop” with Ways Out Hong Kong to promote the waste reduction through upcycling in a creative way. Apart from hand crafting exquisite jewellery from kitchen waste, the participants were also encouraged not to underestimate every small action and called for collective environmental efforts. The overwhelming participation and positive feedback from our colleagues demonstrate ATAL's commitment to sustainability. Let's continue to innovate, inspire, and implement sustainable practices in our daily lives and work! #ATAL #EngineeringwithPassion #ATALGreenMonth #Sustainability #FromTrashToTreasure #volunteering
