Join us from 9 to 11 January 2025 at Hong Kong Baptist University, for an inspiring three-day event themed 'Unboxing Social Enter-Pedia', where we'll explore Hong Kong's vibrant social enterprise and social innovation industry. 🚀 What to Expect: • Engage with thought-provoking sessions on design innovation and guru sessions from UIF and TLS facilitators, and faculty innovation fellows. • Build a network of like-minded individuals and connect with Hong Kong’s local community, such as Google Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation. The 4th Training Session of 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 - 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 was electrifying! 💥💡Students immersed themselves in the define and ideation stage of design thinking, brainstorming big ideas and exploring key areas like the living environment, public spaces, inclusion, and upward mobility. A special shoutout to the residents and families from Kowloon City District who served as a human library for our students! ❤️ Their real-life stories and insights took our projects to the next level. Last Thursday night, we had an amazing time at the 3rd Training Workshop of 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 - 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲. Our adventure took us through the vibrant streets of To Kwa Wan, including Hoi Sham Park, the famous ”red apple“ To Kwa Wan Market, the iconic 13 Streets, On Lok Factory Building, local grocery stores, and The Mahjong. Participants completed various tasks while soaking in the rich historic background of To Kwa Wan, bringing back memories of the good old days of the community. It was a night filled with exploration, learning, and nostalgia. Congratulations to HKBU Teams in winning the GenAI Hackathon for SDGs 2024, and they are: ==Track 2: Sustainable Food and Waste System== 🥉Second Runner-up “Leo is the Best” The team provides a solution to reduce retail food waste through optimised inventory management. ==Track 3: Inclusive for All== 🥇Champion “CitySpot” The team developed an Intelligent citizen feedback platform for reporting infrastructure issues by simply taking a photo. 🥈First Runner-up JustTeach.ai The team aims to provide high-quality educational resources with AI to give support to teachers and enhance student learning

🌟 What an amazing day at our 2nd training session of 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 - 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲! We dove into reimagining Kowloon City with fresh eyes, using social innovation and design thinking. Following the design thinking workshop, we embarked on community visits, starting with the 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝘁 “𝗟𝗦𝗧 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴”, where engaging conversations with locals provided valuable insights. We then split into two groups—one explored the 𝗧𝗼 𝗞𝘄𝗮 𝗪𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗺, while the other visited the 𝗦.𝗞.𝗛. 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗘𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲. We had an amazing kick-off event for "Social Innovation Makers - Rethink LoongCity"! 🌟 Participants were warmly welcomed into our vibrant community, and we are excited to delve into the unique stories of Kowloon City District while participating in dynamic activities that spur creativity and collaboration. Thanks to our co-organiser, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Kowloon City Children and Youth Integrated Services Centre, participants gained insights into various issues in Kowloon City District, including housing, demographics, landmarks, and urban renewal. This begins our journey to transform LoongCity into a more liveable and sustainable community. Junction Road Park near HKBU has been instrumental in fostering community connections in densely populated urban areas. After identifying certain inefficiencies in the park's facilities, students used the Design Thinking method to develop innovative solutions. By interviewing park users, social innovators were able to generate creative ideas to address the issues at hand. https://lnkd.in/gcFAnJic
