  • Proud to showcase our Kwu Tung Station 1601 project, where innovation meets safety excellence. As Hong Kong's first MTR station being built above an operating railway tunnel, we have maintained zero accident for 17 months through smart tech integration and strong safety culture. Thank you to Ir Prof. Thomas HO, Chairman of the CIC, the delegation from Leighton Asia and MTR's leadership for visiting our site. #KwuTungStation #ConstructionSafety #ZeroAccident #Innovation #DragagesHongKong

𝗠𝗧𝗥 𝗞𝘄𝘂 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 - 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 The Northern Metropolis is a key focus of Hong Kong's future development, and a comprehensive railway and transport network will be an important engine for driving people's livelihoods and the economy. The CIC has always been supportive of the development of infrastructure in the Northern Metropolis. Ir Prof. Thomas HO, Chairman of the CIC, together with Mr. Colman WONG, General Manager of Leighton Asia, and Mr. Colin BIRKBY, Executive Director of Leighton Asia, being invited by Mr. Carl DEVLIN, Capital Works Director at MTR Corporation Limited, visited the Kwu Tung Station sites. MTR Corporation is currently advancing the Northern Link project, with railway as the backbone of mass transportation in the Northern Metropolis. Kwu Tung Station on East Rail Line as the phase 1 of the project commenced construction in 2023, with target completion in 2027. As the first new station built atop an operating railway tunnel in Hong Kong, the project is huge and complex. The team has applied Design for Safety principles and technologies such as BIM, Automatic Deformation Monitoring System, automatic drainage system, to ensure the excavation works are highly efficient and safe. Ir Dominic LAW, MTR’s Head of Project Delivery – Northern Link (Phase 1), said that apart from technologies, the management team has also promoted a safety culture from top to bottom. This resulted in the outstanding performance of a zero-accident record in construction in the past 17 months. The management of Leighton Asia expressed recognition of the safety culture of the project team. Ir Prof. Thomas HO said that the project team has made good use of technology and has also taken care of the safety of frontline workers by introducing a tailor-made mobile elevating work platform and prefabricated modules. He hopes that the industry would continue to learn from successful examples to improve safety standards.
