We had the pleasure of welcoming Colin Browne, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Cascale, at our CIPL factory last Friday. 🎉   Colin was warmly welcomed by our leadership team, including Dr. Vidhura Ralapanawe, EVP of Innovation & Sustainability and Board Director of Cascale, and Deepak Kumar, EVP of Global Planning. During his visit, Colin had the opportunity to tour our state-of-the-art manufacturing production lines and the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).   Epic team discussed the company sustainability strategy and investments to halve the carbon and water footprints by 2030, and blueprints of the upcoming manufacturing facilities in India, designed for net zero carbon and net zero water.    The discussions covered fashion decarbonisation pathways and financing, touching on challenges and opportunities ahead of Bangladesh. Audit, data, tool and target fatigue was a prominent theme. We are thrilled to announce that EPIC Group has partnered with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to champion sustainable textile manufacturing in Bangladesh and India! 🌍👕 This collaboration involves a $100 million debt financing package, including a $70 million sustainability-linked loan and a $30 million green loan, marking IFC's first green loan with sustainability-linked features in the manufacturing sector. With these funds, we will: - Expand our operations in Bangladesh and build a new manufacturing facility in India. - Upgrade our washing and wastewater treatment plants. - Invest in technology and equipment to reduce energy and water use. Together, we aim to create over 27,500 jobs (10,500 direct and 17,000 indirect) and significantly reduce our environmental footprint, targeting a 65% reduction in GHG emission intensity per garment by 2030. This partnership underscores our commitment to sustainability, resource efficiency, and gender diversity within our management.
