【ESF Assembly Showcase】 Another eventful week at ESF schools beyond the classroom walls! 🌊 ESF King George V School students made a splash for a great cause at the Hebe Haven Yacht Club’s 24-hour Charity Dinghy Race! Over 20 enthusiastic participants showcased teamwork and determination in this thrilling event, all while raising funds for important charities like the Children’s Cancer Foundation and Sailability Hong Kong Limited. With plenty of support from KGV staff and sponsorship from the KGV PTSA, the atmosphere was energetic and fun throughout the race. This annual endurance challenge brought together sailors and non-sailors alike for 24 hours of non-stop action, highlighting the incredible spirit of our ESF community! ✈️ We are thrilled to share that ESF South Island students have embarked on great adventures abroad, from Indonesia, China, Vietnam, and Malaysia to the Philippines, during their MaD Week! The itineraries include making terracotta army figures in Xi’An, building rainwater tanks in Bali, cycling across Chiang Mai, having an early morning Tai Chi session on the top deck of their boat before cave kayaking in Vietnam, enjoying a Balinese feast, and many more! 🗞️ ESF Discovery College Y9 students participated in an impactful experiential learning simulation at the Crossroads Foundation, where they made paper bags while exploring the realities of living in poverty. This activity tied directly into their current I&S studies on Inequalities & Development, providing a powerful connection between classroom learning and real-life experiences. A huge thank you to the Crossroads Foundation for hosting us and imparting invaluable lessons! 🎃 Over at ESF Island School, Da Vinci House organised their annual charity event, raising funds and collecting supplies for the Crossroads Foundation. The week was filled with fun activities, including a bake sale, trick-or-treat orders, a stationery donation stall, a carnival fair, and the beloved ‘Halloweeny’ dress-the-teacher event. 🎶 Congratulations to ESF Sha Tin College and ESF Beacon Hill alumni Alfie! As the youngest of the nine selected students from Hong Kong, he participated in a music exchange programme in London over the summer. He had the incredible opportunity to perform in an ensemble at St. Paul’s Church at Covent Garden, where he connected with fellow musicians and immersed himself in British culture. What an amazing experience for him and a proud moment for us!

From stunning final artworks to detailed journals, their creative processes centred around the theme of ‘Power.’ Their hard work and success are truly inspiring for our younger learners. Keep shining! ✍🏻 Huge congratulations to Camille Phieu, from ESF South Island School, who recently not only won the 2024 Ethos Hong Kong Secondary Schools Essay Competition but also took the top spot in the Medical Humanities category with her outstanding essay, “How can literature and art enhance our understanding of patient experiences in healthcare?’ Her work captivated the judges, and the editorial board and faculty were deeply impressed by her thoughtful exploration of this critical topic; we are all proud of Camille! To read Camille’s award-winning essay, click https://lnkd.in/ernEGPa9 🖌️ Over at ESF Beacon Hill School, Y3 students in Pathway 1 had a fantastic first experience with Chinese Calligraphy! They explored the basic techniques and learned about the cultural significance behind this beautiful traditional art form. What an excellent opportunity to enhance their skills and deepen their appreciation of Chinese culture. 🥽 ESF Kennedy School’s swimming gala went with a bang! Swimmers earned points by completing individual and team events, and they were cheered on by their housemates, parents, and teachers at Henry Fok Pool at HKU. After an exciting morning of races, including widths, 50m lengths, relays and 200m individual medley races, the Lions emerged triumphant this year. 🌟 A massive shoutout to Veronica Chik from ESF Renaissance College Hong Kong for her remarkable achievement at the China National Youth Climbing Championships! 🏆 At just nine years old, Veronica became the youngest climber from Hong Kong to conquer the notorious "China Climb," one of the toughest routes in the country. Her national competition debut in Beijing was nothing short of spectacular, as she not only faced her fears but also claimed top honors in the boulder-and-lead combined competition for her age category! After taking three months off to overcome her fear of heights, Veronica made a triumphant return, scaling the 31-meter climb in an impressive 5 minutes and 50 seconds. Her journey shows us the power of determination and resilience—qualities that shine bright in this young athlete. 🌈 Veronica has envisioned competing in the Olympics since the age of seven. She was awarded her gold medal by Wu Peng, who won silver in speed climbing at the Paris Olympics. This reflects not only her triumph but also her fearless chase of her dreams! We are so proud of you, Veronica! Keep reaching for the stars—you’re just getting started! 🌟✨ #ESF #SucessStory
