We link food companies with charities to redistribute surplus food from where it is plentiful, to where there is a need.

About us

Feeding Hong Kong is a Hong Kong registered charity with a mission to fight hunger and reduce the amount of quality food being sent to landfills. We serve as the link between food companies with surplus and charities with need. We collect, sort, store and redistribute surplus food to charities running food assistance programmes, and also raise awareness about food insecurity, food waste and food banking. We are Hong Kong’s sole accredited member of the Global Food Banking Network, an international organisation dedicated to creating and strengthening food banks and national food bank networks. We offer a range of opportunities for you to fulfill your CSR commitments and actively invest in the community. Our experience spans strategic partnerships, engagement campaigns, team building initiatives, employee fundraising and more! For further information, please visit feedinghk.org.

The fondly named ‘Lion Bank’ has been a roaring success for Feeding Hong Kong yet again! HSBC has been supporting our foodbank since 2013 and during that time has hosted two Food Drives per year, achieving an impressive 20 Food Drives in total, raising over 20 tonnes of much-needed staple goods for our charity beneficiaries, such as rice, noodles, cooking oil and tinned foods. Thanks to the ferocious spirit of the team at HSBC, their latest Summer Food Drive has been invaluable in helping to ensure that we can support meals for vulnerable communities which are wholesome and balanced. It seems those famous bronze lions are not just defending the safety and good fortune of HSBC but the right of everyone in the community to a good meal. Thanks Team HSBC.

Want to share a bit of Mid-Autumn Madness! Much as we love them, it can be hard to eat all those delicious mooncakes. Shockingly, 3.2 million pieces of mooncake are wasted annually in Hong Kong. Now you can share some festive love, reduce waste and help feed Hong Kong. Create a Collection Corner at your office and deliver the excess Mooncake donations directly to our warehouse, OR deliver your mooncakes to our Community Drop Off points scattered across the city. We are grateful if donations can be received by 13 September 2024. We will ensure that all the donated Mooncakes are redistributed to our network of frontline charities so their beneficiaries get to experience some festive delights too, along with our Mid-Autumn Meal Parcels, packed with enough basic food items for 10 meals. See here for an up-to-date list of our Mooncake Community Drop Off points. https://lnkd.in/geifbBEM Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

We love to share a nice cup of tea at Feeding Hong Kong, so imagine our excitement when 135kgs of fancy Rooibos espresso tea from A&W Food Service arrived at our warehouse, ready to be poured out into the community soon. Growing from just 10 staff in 1986, A&W is now the market leading distributor of fruit juices in Hong Kong with over 180 staff and 150,000 square feet of factory, warehouse and office space, having also diversified into mineral water, other beverages, dairy products and canned or frozen vegetables. True to its roots of being at the heart of the community, A&W Food Service has been working with Feeding Hong Kong to help refill the cups of vulnerable people since 2012, regularly donating nutritious fruit-based refreshments, milk and yogurt to our network of charity partners. We want to raise a (virtual) glass to say thank you! If you’re a food company with any surplus food or drink that you'd like to donate, please give us a shout.

It only costs a little to make a big difference! Bring a packed lunch twice a month, and donate the savings to Feeding Hong Kong. Every HK$10 you donate will support one meal for the elderly, low-income families and children, ethnic minorities and refugees. So, for the cost of just two lunches per month, you can donate $100 and support over 10 wholesome meals. The harsh reality is that more than 1.3 million people still live in poverty in Hong Kong, which is why at Feeding Hong Kong we rescue quality surplus food from going to landfill and redistribute to a network of over 150 charity partner food programmes. The numbers talk! By setting up a HK$100 monthly donation to Feeding Hong Kong, you are genuinely helping us bridge the gap between surplus and need, because the power of a little, when multiplied by a lot, goes a long way. Every 10 new monthly donations of HK$100 will result in a life-changing 12,000 meals provided per year! There’s no time to waste! Join our TWO-4-TEN campaign NOW and help us feed Hong Kong! https://bit.ly/4ctZJym

We love the naturally sweet taste of the humble, nutrient-packed, versatile sweet potato, and so do our charity partners! And now we know that the sweet potatoes from our long-term food donor, Grace Cup, are grown in volcanic ash soil, in Indonesia, under optimal local climate conditions to give them a unique and sweet taste, we love them even more! Grace Cup has been a partner of Feeding Hong Kong for over 2 years, and during that time has donated 86 tonnes of sweet potatoes, equivalent to providing approximately 200,000 meals. Grace Cup has always been passionate about donating their sweet potatoes to vulnerable communities and Stephen Yeung, Group Managing Director of Grace Cup explains why the partnership with Feeding Hong Kong has been so successful, “Feeding Hong Kong is efficient in collecting and processing a large amount of food from us, saving us manpower and resources.” We know why we’re passionate about one of nature’s finest ingredients; it’s packed with vitamins, tastes just delicious, easy to cook, brilliant served in a multitude of ways and keeps our beneficiaries happy too. What’s not to love. Thanks Grace Cup for this sweetest of donations.

It was wonderful to host Aveline San, CEO and Head of Banking for Citi Hong Kong and Macau, and her team at our warehouse earlier this month, during which they learnt more about food waste and food security issues within our community and the solutions which are needed.   The team rolled up their sleeves and worked tirelessly to sort 1.2 tonnes of food donations which had been received from our airport partners. Thank you Citi for coming together to help support our mission, to save quality food waste from going to landfills while delivering food security in Hong Kong. Food waste and food security are tough challenges in Hong Kong. We are pleased to engage with Citi Hong Kong team in enabling progress within our community, in order to support a Hong Kong where no good food goes to waste!

It’s not always rice and noodles! Our beneficiaries deserve a sensational treat every now and again, so a big heartfelt thanks to Classic Fine Foods Hong Kong & Macau who have been whipping up classic delights for vulnerable communities in Hong Kong for more than nine years. At least once a month, we take receipt of the Classic Fine Foods bounty; whipped cream, pastry, cheese and more. Needless to say, these are snapped up by our charity partners who love to share such luxury ingredients across their food programmes. Over the years, we have received an astonishing amount of food donations from global supplier, Classic Fine Foods, who are one of Hong Kong’s premium suppliers to hotels and restaurants and definitely know a thing or two about dining well. Thanks Classic Fine Foods for sharing your commitment to fine food and exquisite ingredients with our community too. Bon appetit!
