【Supporting the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games】 Following the official closing of the Paris 2024 Olympics, preparation for the Paralympic Games beginning in a couple of weeks’ time is well underway! The Flag Presentation Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games was held earlier at the Central Government Offices. The delegation will set off for the Games on 24 August.   Gleneagles is honoured to support the Hong Kong Team's participation in the Paralympic Games. Dr Joe Law, our Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Team Physician of the delegation, will lead the medical team comprising other allied health volunteers to provide professional medical support to our athletes throughout the Games.   Our best wishes to the Hong Kong Team and all athletes participating in the Games!

【Further elevating drug dispensing accuracy with new medication robot】  We are pleased to have recently introduced to our hospital uniBOT, the new fully-automated robotic unit dose cutting and repacking system to further elevate drug dispensing accuracy.     Gleneagles is the first hospital in Asia to adopt this repacking system designed to support automatic medication cutting and repacking of a variety of blister tablets, capsules and ampoules. Equipped with a proximity sensor to automatically detect the medications, the system is also able to process different sizes and arrangements of tablets and capsules as well as ampoules into unit dose format. Boasting high speed and operational simplicity, drug dispensing accuracy, efficiency and patient safety at Gleneagles are set to be further enhanced.

【Gleneagles joins hand with Shenzhen Qianhai Taikang Hospital to bring excellent healthcare services in the GBA】 #Gleneagles has recently signed a collaboration agreement with Shenzhen Qianhai Taikang Hospital on providing high-quality, comprehensive and efficient healthcare services to patients in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The collaboration brings Gleneagles and Shenzhen Qianhai Taikang Hospital together in the realms of talent nurturing, knowledge exchange, teleconsultation, patient referral and more. It also opens up an engaging platform for ongoing exchange of knowledge and the latest technologies in specialties such as cardiology, orthopaedics, oncology, etc. Cross-border patient referral for services may also be arranged as appropriate. The partnership is set to further promote cross-boundary medical cooperation and foster the integration of healthcare services in the GBA.

【Staying on top of potential data breaches】   At #Gleneagles, we are committed to providing the best possible and personalised care for our patients while ensuring that our data security and privacy is always safeguarded.   Since 2019, we have been organising periodic data breach drills to strengthen the preparedness and resilience of our staff to potential data breaches. In a recent round of tabletop exercise, our staff conducted some drills on handling common data breach scenarios covering ransomware attack, accidental document disposal, email or postal leakage, and phishing under the guidance of a professional consultant. The group seized the opportunity to refresh their knowledge of the best practices and gained additional insights into the crucial process to go through in managing data breach incidents and minimising the impact.

【Achieving continuously high healthcare standards through adopting CIHA Standards】 To ensure that our quality and patient care and safety stay on par with international standards and to foster healthcare integration within the Greater Bay Area, #Gleneagles is set to adopt the China’s International Hospital Accreditation Standards (CIHA) (2021 Version) in hospital accreditation, in addition to our current adoption of The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International accreditation. We have recently kick-started the preparation for the CIHA exercise and had the pleasure of inviting experts from the Shenzhen Hospital Accreditation Research Center (SHARC) to introduce to us the background, accreditation process, requirements and risk assessment and address questions from our staff. The informative session was followed by an insightful experience sharing by representatives of The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital. We will make every effort to achieve the CIHA and are confident that our dual accreditation will allow us to have the best of both schemes and deliver the best possible care for patients!
