    【Contributing to a greener future】   We are pleased to share that #Gleneagles has been granted the “Good Class Indoor Air Quality Certificate” under the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Certification Scheme for Offices and Public Places, and was privileged to have participated in a recent seminar organised by the Indoor Air Quality Information Centre and the Hong Kong Productivity Council which gathered practitioners from the healthcare, religious and social welfare sectors to exchange insights into indoor air quality management measures.    Our Director of Operations Mr Wilfred Chiu shared the hospital's contribution to achieving good indoor air quality and how the hospital navigated through the challenges encountered. Mr Chiu also engaged the audience with some of the advantages of acquiring IAQ certification and practical tips for improving IAQ.    #Gleneagles strives to continue to care for our planet and spares no effort to build a better world for generations to come. #Careforgood #Careforplanet

  • 【A celebration of quality and excellence at IHH Quality Summit 2024】  Themed “Redefining Healthcare for a New World”, the IHH Quality Summit 2024 was staged last week in Mumbai where keen and innovative colleagues from different operating markets of IHH Healthcare’s network gathered to showcase their respective projects and initiatives that aim to raise the bar for clinical and service excellence and quality improvement.     #Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong is proud to have garnered the second place of the IHH Service Excellence Award with a series of operational improvement initiatives in the hospital's cashier areas. One of other teams also earned the third place of the IHH Clinical Excellence Award with a project designed to enhance care for patients undergoing hysterectomy surgeries. A round of applause also goes to our Environmental Services Manager Sunny Ngai for winning the third place in the IHH Service Excellence Award (individual) in recognition of his efforts in optimising the hospital’s manpower and streamlining the workflow of the porter service for patients’ specimens, which in turn has allowed more efficient follow-up care for patients.     Our congratulations and heartfelt gratitude to our winning colleagues for their tireless efforts in improving patient care and experience!     With a passion to care, Gleneagles will continue with its pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement for the benefit of patients.

  • 【Exploring Hong Kong’s role as Asia’s medical technology hub at InvestHK seminar】  Gleneagles had the pleasure to join the “Hong Kong as Asia’s Medical Technology Hub - Navigating Regulations and Realising Opportunities” seminar by Invest Hong Kong which provided an engaging platform for healthcare leaders and industry practitioners to delve into Hong Kong’s pivotal role in the medical device industry and gain insights into the emerging global market trends, the local ecosystem and regulatory updates.    In an exchange with other panelists, our CEO Dr Kenneth Tsang shared some of the advantages for medtech companies and innovators to conduct their clinical research in a hospital setting where direct and close collaboration with doctors, who play a pivotal role in clinical trials, can be achieved. From the perspective of a private healthcare provider, Dr Tsang also highlighted the hospital's contribution to fostering clinical validation of medical innovations and translation of research into impactful solutions through collaborating with different home-grown and overseas medtech innovators, institutes and startups. Through active partnerships, Gleneagles aspires to go beyond providing high-quality and personalised care for patients, but also foster a culture of innovative and continuous medical advancement which ultimately benefit patient care.

    【Gleneagles contributes to life-support training for healthcare professionals and community as AHAITC training site】  Colleagues and friends gathered to celebrate the first anniversary of the American Heart Association International Training Centre (AHAITC) at LKS Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong (HKUMed) and send appreciation to healthcare professionals, including those from Gleneagles, who have participated in the Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) training programmes under the AHAITC.     Under the guidance of the AHAITC at HKUMed, #Gleneagles is pleased to be able to take an active role in offering life-support training to healthcare professionals and the general public by becoming an AHAITC training site. Our doctors and nurses will have access to the AHA-accredited instructor courses on basic and cardiovascular life support, and they will in turn become certified instructors who can provide training on emergency care for other healthcare staff. As our training site continues to develop, we aim to extend HeartSaver courses to members of the public to empower them to learn skills that can save lives during emergencies.    At Gleneagles, we aspire to continue to contribute to high-quality training for healthcare professionals and the wellbeing of the wider community.

  • 【Gleneagles shares experiences in healthcare digital transformation at Hospital Management Asia conference】 #Gleneagles is pleased to play a part in the Hospital Management Asia 2024 in Indonesia earlier this week. The 4-day event offered an inspiring platform for discussions and knowledge exchange on keeping pace with healthcare challenges and transformations in healthcare delivery. Our Chief Information Officer (CIO) Mr Louis Shun engaged the audience with the topic “Driving digitalisation and patient-centered innovation in healthcare based on interoperability” which depicted Gleneagles’ digital transformation journey leveraging the use of apps, artificial intelligence, robots and more to enhance operational efficiency and patient experience. Also shared was how the hospital navigated through the challenges encountered during the transformation. In the session “Redesigning nursing care”, our Assistant Director of Nursing Ms Cora Yim exchanged views on the emerging trends of nursing care delivery with nursing representatives from other healthcare organisations. Ms Yim was joined by our CIO when they introduced Gleneagles’ adoption of a remote order system, empowered by a doctor app with a digital signature function, which has significantly improved accuracy and communication, reduced nurses’ workload and manual steps, leading to enhanced medication and patient safety.

    【Medical team fully supports athletes at Paris 2024 Paralympic Games】 Prior to the official commencement of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games the medical team led by Dr Joe Law, our Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Team Physician of the Hong Kong, China delegation, had arrived in Paris with all athletes to make their final preparation. Our Dr Law also took the opportunity to visit the polyclinic in the Paralympic Village to get a better understanding of how our athletes' medical needs may also be served through this facility. We wish the Hong Kong Team the best of luck and look forward to their victorious performances!

  • 【Promoting quality improvement and patient safety at international forum】   #Gleneagles was privileged to have participated in the recent International Forum on Quality & Safety in Healthcare which offered healthcare leaders and professionals from around the world a platform to exchange knowledge and insights and discuss ideas related to a wide spectrum of topics on patient safety and quality improvement.      In the session “A tale of 2 cities – Hospital accreditation in Hong Kong and Shanghai”, Dr Kenneth Tsang, Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong and Regional Chief Executive Officer of IHH Healthcare North Asia, compared Gleneagles’ experiences in simultaneously participating in the two international accreditation schemes, namely the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) International and the new China’s International Hospital Accreditation (CIHA) Standards. The sharing also covered some of the hospital’s current learnings and challenges as it goes through the CIHA exercise.      In another session, Dr Tsang interacted with other industry professionals on the dynamics between the public and private healthcare sectors under the city’s dual-track system, whilst presenting some of our hospital’s efforts in contributing to filling the gap between the two sectors to achieve a more balanced healthcare system.      We also thank our teams from different disciplines for showcasing at the forum some of the initiatives taken in raising quality of care and patient safety, these included our innovative infrared detection system to prevent patient falls, our patient support and remote care service, a new labelling system to enhance efficiency and accuracy of specimen processing, infection control improvement measures for our new dialysis centre, and more.

  • 【Supporting the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games】 Following the official closing of the Paris 2024 Olympics, preparation for the Paralympic Games beginning in a couple of weeks’ time is well underway! The Flag Presentation Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games was held earlier at the Central Government Offices. The delegation will set off for the Games on 24 August.   Gleneagles is honoured to support the Hong Kong Team's participation in the Paralympic Games. Dr Joe Law, our Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Team Physician of the delegation, will lead the medical team comprising other allied health volunteers to provide professional medical support to our athletes throughout the Games.   Our best wishes to the Hong Kong Team and all athletes participating in the Games!

  • 【Further elevating drug dispensing accuracy with new medication robot】  We are pleased to have recently introduced to our hospital uniBOT, the new fully-automated robotic unit dose cutting and repacking system to further elevate drug dispensing accuracy.     Gleneagles is the first hospital in Asia to adopt this repacking system designed to support automatic medication cutting and repacking of a variety of blister tablets, capsules and ampoules. Equipped with a proximity sensor to automatically detect the medications, the system is also able to process different sizes and arrangements of tablets and capsules as well as ampoules into unit dose format. Boasting high speed and operational simplicity, drug dispensing accuracy, efficiency and patient safety at Gleneagles are set to be further enhanced.
