Exciting discussions with our industry partners at Hong Kong FinTech Week about harnessing the power of AI to advance Hong Kong as a smarter digital city together! 🧠 Our Michael Y. joined Ian Glasner of HSBC, Peter Lee of IBM, and Rebecca Lim, CFA of AutoML Capital on the “AI-Driven Era: Innovation, Efficiency, and Growth” panel. 2 key takeaways in case you missed it: 💡 1️⃣ Huge Economic Potential of AI: 💰 AI could unlock HKD 287.4 billion of economic benefits for Hong Kong in 2030. The finance industry is poised to benefit significantly, with AI reshaping everything from personalized advice and fraud detection to risk management and financial inclusion. Google is already helping institutions of all sizes capture AI’s benefits with our AI-powered products and solutions ecosystem, from Google Cloud to Google Ads, which contributed HKD 51.6 billion of economic activity for businesses in Hong Kong in 2023 alone. 2️⃣ Responsible AI is Crucial: 🛡️ We recognize that AI presents both opportunities and challenges, especially in finance where trust and transparency are paramount. That’s why responsible AI is embedded in every stage of our product and solution development, backed by our AI Principles, Secure AI Framework, and more. This includes ensuring fairness, accountability, and security in AI systems. We're committed to helping businesses strengthen their security posture and build a #responsibleAI future together. Michael also highlighted the importance of collaboration in AI development, both within the organization and across ecosystems, sharing how different teams at Google work together to bring AI-powered features like Search 🔎 and Magic Editor ✨ to Google Photos. 📸 For 20 years, we have been dedicated to helping the city thrive in the digital age. Living in a tech-savvy city like Hong Kong, it's easy to think we're immune to online scams. Not so fast! 🚨 Our latest survey reveals that 1 in 3 online users in Hong Kong have fallen victim to online scams, despite many believing they could easily spot them. Phishing attacks are becoming even more sophisticated, personalized and common every day with the rise of AI. These attacks often mimic well-known, trusted companies to trick you into giving up personal or financial information. 🔑 Cyber attackers only need ONE successful threat, while defenders need the best defense at all times. Fortunately, AI can reverse this by scaling defenders' capabilities in areas like threat detection, malware analysis and vulnerability management - here are just a few ways Google is fighting back to build a safer internet for everyone: 🛡️ AI-powered Protection: Every single day, Safe Browsing helps protect 5+ billion devices while Gmail blocks 100+ million phishing attempts. ✅ Secure AI Framework: Google helps security professionals ensure that AI models are implemented responsibly. This #Cybersecurity Awareness Month and always, take action to protect yourself: 👉 Take the Jigsaw Phishing Quiz to test your skills and get tips on how to tell what’s real or fake: https://lnkd.in/eD22m7k. 🔎 Explore how Google keeps you safe online at https://lnkd.in/gt-9M4nE. #responsibleAI #SaferWithGoogle

With nearly 40% of financial services organizations using AI in the city, according to a report by Access Partnership in 2024, Michael emphasized the importance of #cybersecurity and #responsibleAI development while we bring the power of GenAI to more organizations in Hong Kong.
