Could unlocking the DNA of our soils be the key to enhancing our rural environments? At our Reay Forest Estate in the north-west Highlands, we’re partnering with the University of the Highlands and Islands on a pioneering study to explore whether soil DNA is an early indicator of biodiversity improvements, enabling us to make more informed decisions that promote nature recovery and climate resilience. We’re sampling soils across different habitats - including peatland, woodland, and grasslands - analysing their content for microscopic organisms, invertebrates (like insects), and fungi that indicate ecosystem health. This approach could allow us to measure improvements far sooner than traditional methods, which can take years to show results. This work is part of our natural capital baselining project, the most comprehensive study to date of the natural environment across our three UK rural estates. Neurodiversity Celebration Week was a reminder that great design is about more than aesthetics - it’s about accessibility. It’s a time to recognise and champion inclusive spaces that cater to all cognitive and sensory needs. One space breaking the mould is Fivefields, our 30,000 sq ft flexible co-working space in the heart of Victoria. Designed with Barr Gazetas, inclusivity is built into every detail. As well as an accessible ramp for those with reduced mobility, the space supports sensory and cognitive impairments with wayfinding through colour themes, wooden signage with pictograms and braille, and height-adjustable desks and meeting tables that blend function with style. A vibrant art collection curated by Artiq enhances the environment, with pieces selected for their sensory appeal. Created in partnership with the Westminster Foundation and managed by x+why, Fivefields removes barriers for charities and social value organisations that might otherwise struggle to find high-quality, central workspace - because accessibility should be the standard, not the exception. #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek #InclusiveDesign #AccessibleWorkspaces #SocialImpact #Fivefields #PeopleAndPlanetPositive

How do you breathe new life into a 200-year-old industrial building while preserving its history? At 27 Eccleston Place, Belgravia, that challenge was met through sensitive adaptation and preservation. Originally built in 1830 for Shingleton’s Ice Company Ltd, the site has served as a coachworks, power station, and motor repair centre. Now, reimagined as part of our Eccleston Yards development, it offers 28,923 sq. ft. of office, retail, and leisure space, including a Michelin-starred rooftop restaurant. Last week, Building Design. spotlighted this project in conversation with Buckley Gray Yeoman’s board director, Andrew Henriques - covering the design brief, challenges, and successes of bringing new purpose to this historic space. How can we go beyond regulatory requirements to create truly equitable and inclusive spaces for all? Following the launch of our Inclusive Spaces and Places report, developed in collaboration with The Crown Estate and others, we’ve begun a series of live webinars exploring how to embed inclusive design principles across the built environment. The first live session, delivered by Motionspot, explored how we can move beyond compliance to create user journeys that are truly accessible and inclusive. Bringing together leading voices in inclusive design, the discussion highlighted the need to embed accessibility from the outset- ensuring our built environment considers the needs of every user, not just the minimum standards. A huge thank you to expert speakers Ed Warner MBE, Dr Shani Dhanda, Sophie Morgan, Vivian Wall and Jason Slocombe. Stay tuned for the next webinar. #InclusiveDesign #AccessibilityMatters #InclusiveSpaces #BuiltEnvironment #PartnershipForImpact #Webinar #PeopleAndPlanetPositive

Two new lettings at the Billiards Building, our net zero office space in the heart of Birmingham's Central Business District, bring the space well on its way to being fully occupied. Consultants Alvarez & Marsal and Hoare Lea have secured 13,000 sq ft of this Grade II listed building, reinforcing its reputation as one of Birmingham’s most sought-after office locations. Birmingham’s first listed net zero office, the Billiards Building has been extensively refurbished as part of our £35m capital investment programme. Now offering 79,000 sq ft of best-in-class office space, the building holds an EPC ‘A’ rating, with a strong focus on sustainability and modern workplace amenities. A sleek new reception, business lounge, yoga studio, gym, and a communal roof terrace, in addition to a new coffee shop welcoming both tenants and the public, are all part of the upgrades. Through our Greener Futures Fund, we’re proud to support the Green Schools Project in equipping young people with the knowledge and skills to cut carbon emissions in their schools and communities. Last year, 4,677 pupils from 115 schools took part in the ‘Zero Carbon Schools programme. 95% of teachers agreed that the partnership has influenced their school’s response to climate change, and participating schools are reducing their carbon emissions by an average of 27 tonnes. It’s clear this work is making a real difference. We’re proud to support work that transforms the way schools and young people respond to climate change. #GreenerFuturesFund #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Education

Since 2020, our North American property business has been supporting The Children's Inn at NIH through the @WestminsterFoundation, committing $100,000 over five years. The Inn provides free lodging and support to families of seriously ill children undergoing treatment. Last year alone, it served 950 families, offering 19,129 nights of free accommodation. Our funding also helped deliver 803 educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities. Beyond financial support, our D.C. team regularly volunteers, creating snack packs and ‘Thoughtful Treasures’ to bring comfort to families. We’re proud to contribute to The Inn’s incredible mission. #GrosvenorPropertyAmericas #Community #SocialImpact #TheChildrensInnatNIH

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the achievements of women, and recognise the challenges we still face in achieving gender equality. To mark the occasion, some of our colleagues shared the impact they’re proud to make in their roles, from habitat restoration on our rural estates to managing the West End’s largest mixed-use development. Their work shapes the places we create and the communities we support. Fostering an environment where everyone can contribute and thrive is central to how we work. Watch the video to hear from them.
