This Saturday, on the 22nd Anniversary of the Bali bombing, we were delighted to join the HKFC Exciles boys and friends of, to watch them play the Old Cranleighans in the third Bali Memorial match to date. A massive thanks for the OC's for hosting us, Tim Carpenter for suggesting it, Connor for organising the team and Paul McGee for laying the HKFC wreath in London and for purchasing a huge new trophy for this special occasion and overall management! So poignant that the match this year fell on the actual anniversary and a minutes silence before to mark our respect for those lost was followed by an epic battle on the pitch. A close win from the HK boys, but the true celebration was rugby, friendship and remembrance. I met someone who used to play touch with Dan weekly in HK and it was lovely to reminisce about the good old days! Delighted that Paul, Lawrence and Cerys joined us on the day too. With the trophy to be engraved with the last three results and kept at the Old Cranleighan's clubhouse, we look forward to next years match. Again thanks to Will, the club's chairman and the other OC's for their efforts on putting on such a great day for everyone. Congratulations to our 10 up and coming athletes who were selected to represent Hong Kong China U18s in the Asia Rugby Emirates U18 Sevens Championships 2024! We had 2 boys & 8 girls feature across both squads - with the boys winning silver & the girls taking gold! 🥈🥇 : - Liam Gordon - Theodore Sun Seigrist - Sophie Aranha - Lela El-Asmar - Sara Harries - Jasmine Lea Fitzhenry - Elsie Hulme - Beca John - Saidhb Martin - Lizzie Stanton We also had HKFC representation within the coaching ranks (Robbie Fergusson, OLY and Rosanna Wright). We were very pleased to welcome Groupe BPCE’s CEO, Nicolas Namias, to Shanghai and Hong Kong during his annual visit to Asia Pacific.   Across the two cities, Nicolas had the opportunity to meet with key clients, stakeholders, as well as our teams from Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking and Natixis Investment Managers.   In Shanghai, Nicolas had the honor of meeting with Xie Dong, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, for an insightful conversation on the instrumental role of Shanghai as an international trading center and the importance of France-China relations, which are marked this year by the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties.   In Hong Kong, Nicolas hosted a regional Town Hall, alongside our APAC CEO Bruno Le Saint where he presented Groupe BPCE’s strategic plan “VISION 2030” and stressed the ambitions of Natixis CIB to further develop our franchise in the APAC region and to continue to support our clients through our many capabilities. In the context of Groupe BPCE’s support for sports, we also celebrated the 10th anniversary of Natixis CIB’s partnership with the HKFC Rugby Section in Hong Kong and their recent wins.   We’d like to warmly thank Nicolas for his time, energy, and engagement, demonstrating Groupe BPCE’s strong commitment to the Asia Pacific platform, which is a key area of development for Natixis CIB & Natixis IM. The Hong Kong heat might be intense, but that hasn't stopped us getting involved with rugby this summer via our Po Leung Kuk (PLK) youth initiative. 🤝 Our collaboration with PLK dates back to 2008, initially focusing on sponsoring registration fees and kit for youth players. This summer, we've taken it a step further by forming a mixed team of HKFC and PLK players for the Touch League. Key highlights: • The team competed in the U16 division, showcasing resilience and adaptability. • PLK players designed the team logo and jerseys, fostering creativity and ownership. • The program has built camaraderie between HKFC and PLK players. ☀ A big thank you to our coaching team (lead by Chin Yew Seah and Janice Ma), for all their efforts this summer.
