♻️ Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting Dr Amy Khor, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment and Mr Mohd Fahmi Aliman, Mayor of South East District in Singapore, along with the team and members from the Waste Management & Recycling Association of Singapore (WMRAS) at our Open Lab. During the insightful tour of our cutting-edge textile waste management technologies and research facilities, the team expressed significant interest in our innovative textile recycling solutions. This sparked meaningful discussions about potential collaborations on similar initiatives in Singapore to achieve the country’s sustainability goals. This exchange went beyond a simple tour; it showcased the potential for cross-border collaboration in addressing global environmental challenges. Open Lab is off to a flying start, and is already teaming up with Redress on an exciting project! Redress, a Hong Kong-based NGO, promotes circular fashion in Asia by educating and empowering designers and consumers. One of their programmes collects and manages unwanted clothing through resale, donation, or downcycling. To minimize downcycling, Redress has partnered with Open Lab, sending up to 750 kg of 'downcycle pile' monthly for two key initiatives: 👚Blended Textile Upcycling 👚AI Sorting Technology Enhancement This partnership not only aims to reduce clothing waste but also promotes a more sustainable approach to managing clothing waste and extending the lifespan of materials.
