【HKHS 2023/24 Sustainability Report】 With climate change being a hot topic on the global stage, we have embraced our role as Hong Kong's "housing laboratory" by developing initiatives that address societal needs and foster multi-generational, sustainable communities. The theme of our 75th anniversary celebration, “Creating Homes for Sustainable Living,” has inspired a series of engaging activities that bring together our community and stakeholders. One notable example is our six-month Community ESG Programme, which successfully engaged over 13,000 households in our rental estates and among the staff to achieve a reduction of nearly 900,000 kilograms in carbon emissions. To further our vision of sustainable living, our cross-divisional Sustainability Working Group has formulated a framework based on three strategic pillars: "Sustainable Homes," "Low-carbon Transformation," and "Future-fit Capabilities." This framework guides our initiatives across housing development and property management, ensuring we remain dedicated to serving the community, protecting the environment, and fostering inclusive and vibrant neighbourhoods. 【HKHS Announces Newly Elected Supervisory Board】   Last Friday, #HKHS held its 72nd Annual General Meeting (AGM), where new members of the Supervisory Board were elected. Prof Ling Kar-kan was elected as Chairman and Mr Lincoln Leong as Vice-Chairman. At the Chairman’s Dinner on the same day, we extended heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing Chairman Mr Walter Chan for his leadership over the past six years.   As a non-government and not-for-profit organisation, HKHS adopts a two-tier governance structure with a Supervisory Board and an Executive Committee. The Supervisory Board defines the mission, vision, core values, and guiding principles, while overseeing nomination, appointment and audit functions. The Executive Committee sets strategies and policies and monitors management performance.   At the AGM each year, at least one-third of the board members retire, balancing continuity with fresh perspectives. 【HKHS Signs HK$12 Billion Syndicated Loan】 #HKHS has signed a HK$12 billion 5-year term and revolving syndicated loan facilities with 12 local and international banks, marking the largest syndicated loan ever for HKHS, including a HK$3 billion social tranche. “We are very pleased with the enthusiastic support from the banking community for the syndicated loan facilities. The syndicated loan facilities not only represent the confidence of the banking community in the development of HKHS, but also provide support for making #HongKong a better place to live,” says HKHS Chairman Walter Chan. Currently, HKHS has more than 20 projects under planning or construction, with over 17,000 subsidised #housing units expected to be completed within the next five years. As a self-financing non-government organisation, HKHS upholds the principle of optimising the use of resources, to leverage the syndicated loan facilities to fulfill our vision of “Creating Homes for Sustainable Living” and to contribute to the sustainable development of Hong Kong. 【HKHS Chairman Bids Farewell to Media Friends】 As our Chairman Walter Chan is going to pass the baton after the Annual General Meeting this Friday, he recently hosted a gathering with media representatives to thank for their support over the past six years since his appointment in 2018. Walter expressed heartfelt gratitude for the close partnership, which has effectively kept the public informed about HKHS's developments and new initiatives in serving the community with dedication and innovation. After the gathering, the media were treated to a guided tour of the HKHS Exhibition Centre, that provides a glance at HKHS's projects history and milestones over the past 75 years, and highlighting our future initiatives in #housing development and sustainability. With the forthcoming leadership transition, #HKHS remains steadfast in its commitment to providing diverse housing solutions and fostering inclusive communities for #HongKong.
