With the help of the fund, Colton is currently receiving professional rehabilitation therapy at the Cyril And Amy Cheung Aged Care Complex, aiming to return to the sports field.   🤝Act of Love – Church member Kwai Ying faced financial difficulties and was struggling with hunger. 【Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council’s Response to the 2024 Policy Address】   The Chief Executive delivered the 2024 Policy Address on 16 October 2024, themed "Reform for Enhancing Development and Building Our Future Together". The address covered a wide range of areas, including childcare, youth development, elderly care, poverty alleviation, housing, inclusion, and carer support, demonstrating the Chief Executive's determination and commitment to economic development and improving the well-being of the public.   The Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council (the Welfare Council) supports the reform direction and related measures outlined in the Policy Address and will align its services with the Government's policy direction. 【Launch Ceremony for "Ten Thousand Members Supporting National Security"】   The Welfare Council held the launch ceremony for the "Ten Thousand Members Supporting National Security" initiative last Saturday. Over the next 12 months, approximately 10,000 members will visit the National Security Education Centre to deepen their understanding of national security and foster a sense of national identity.   The ceremony was attended by officiating guests including Secretary for Labour and Welfare Mr. Chris Sun, Deputy Director of the Social Work Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government Dr. Zhou He, and Executive Director of Man Wah Holdings Limited Ms. Wong Ying Ying, as well as our CEO Mrs. Patricia Lau.   As a leading social welfare organisation in Hong Kong, the Welfare Council aims for this initiative to integrate the concept of national security into the community, contributing to Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.   【「萬千會員撐國安」啟動禮】   福利協會喺上星期六舉辦「慶祝國慶75周年暨香港特別行政區成立27周年—萬千會員撐國安」項目啟動禮，未來一年，我哋將安排約一萬名會員參觀國家安全展覽廳，加深佢哋對國安嘅認識同國家認同感。勞福局局長孫玉菡先生、中聯辦社會工作部副部長周和博士、敏華控股有限公司執行董事黃影影女士等主禮嘉賓，以及協會總幹事劉冼靜儀女士Patricia Lau亦都蒞臨支持。   福利協會作為大型社福機構，希望活動能夠將國安概念融入社區，為香港嘅繁榮穩定作出貢獻。

【United Court Wins Another Top Architecture Award】   Our Government-funded transitional housing project, United Court, has been awarded the Grand Award (Temporary Building) at the 2024 Quality Building Award - QBAHK! This prestigious award, with a 22-year history, recognises excellence in architecture and is a highly anticipated event within the industry and wider community.   Constructed using Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), United Court provides comfortable, supportive homes for families in transition. In addition to incorporating thoughtful designs that truly meet the needs of residents based on their feedback, United Court also features various green initiatives, including 140 solar panels across four rooftops. These measures further demonstrate our commitment to sustainable building practices, echoing the QBA theme of "Driving Innovation | Sustainable Green Building | Building Happiness."   This award reflects the power of teamwork and collaboration. 【The Final Journey】Accompaniment and Saying Goodbye   Say goodbye with dignity and support. Our palliative care team was recently featured on TVB Pearl's "Pearl Magazine," sharing the touching story of 90-year-old William, who is facing a terminal illness. With the support of our social worker, Gordon, William is preparing for his final journey and has penned a heartfelt letter to his son. 【Making a Difference】Volunteers Bring Smiles to Elderly   The impact of a little kindness goes a long way! Volunteers from Eli Lilly and Company made this Mid-Autumn Festival unforgettable for the residents of H.K.S.K.H. Nursing Home, spreading joy and creating a true sense of community.   From festive decorations to heartwarming family photos, they transformed the home into a celebration of togetherness. They even thoughtfully provided soft-meal mooncakes so that residents with swallowing difficulties could partake in the delicious tradition. 【CE Visit】Joining Forces to Advance Primary Healthcare   Last Saturday, we were honored to welcome Chief Executive Mr. John Lee to our PHARM+ Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Community Pharmacy and Wong Tai Sin District Health Centre.   Our CEO, Mrs. Patricia Lau, and our team had a fruitful discussion with the CE, introducing our diverse services such as medication counselling and health talks. These initiatives aim to support the community's health needs and promote the concept of "self-management of minor ailments."   Primary healthcare is vital for a healthy community.
