  • Here is the story of Hysan. Mr Lee Hysan, the Lee family’s patriarch, received his education in the United States, but eventually returned to Mainland China and then moved to Hong Kong. To consolidate his family’s presence in the city, he started building a mansion on Kennedy Road in the 1910s. In 1923, he acquired East Point Hill in Causeway Bay, making it the foundation for what would become Lee Gardens, the cornerstone of the family business. Over the century, Lee Gardens has evolved into a vibrant community, with the Lee family growing alongside generations of Hong Kong people. Watch this short animated video for the story about the family’s commitment to establishing roots in Hong Kong. #Hysan #Hysan100 #LeeGardens #AroundLeeGardens #CausewayBay

  • [STEM & AI Workshops Empowering Innovators of Tomorrow] Earlier this summer, we hosted STEM and #GenerativeAI workshops for over 1,000 students from more than 90 schools and NGOs. These workshops were part of our celebrations to commemorate our 100th anniversary, a century of links with our local communities. At Hysan, we believe STEM projects, equipping young minds with innovative ideas, are crucial for scientific exploration and future placemaking. At the workshops, participants applied their creativity to craft items like smart trash bins, pneumatic lifts, and solar windmills, exploring energy conversion and scientific principles while learning about sustainable practices. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to our partners, Coding 101 and Preface.AI, for delivering these valuable programmes. With these activities, we hope to inspire creative thinking about our city’s future, and we look forward to seeing more innovative ideas come to life! #Hysan #Hysan100 #Innovative #Placemaking #Nurturing #Community

  • [Hysan x Open House HK Tour] Hysan is delighted to be a partner of the inaugural Open House Hong Kong. Over two weekends in September, the attendees were given the opportunity to explore a selection of our curated sites and premises. The 15/F of Lee Garden Three, originally designed as a refuge floor, has been transformed into a vibrant Running Track. The colourful space serves as a spacious covered playground for tenants to unwind and host various wellness activities. Urban Farm, managed by SEED - Sustainable Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Development, is where both tenants and the public may experience urban farming in the city centre. Bizhouse, an innovative space embracing the concept of live-and-work integration, reimagines living areas with an entrepreneurial spirit, catering to the evolving needs of professionals. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Open House Hong Kong for organising this festival and showcasing the design features in the built environment we take pride in. We look forward to welcoming more guests with exciting events in these spaces in the future!   #Hysan #AroundLeeGardens #OpenHouseHK #OHHK2024 #leegardenshk #Bizhouse #community

  • We are delighted to have participated in ReThink HK 2024 in the panel discussion titled ‘Catalysing Green Building Technology in Hong Kong and Beyond’. The panel featured Ir Harry Lai, BBS, Executive Director of Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), Mr Alvan Wong, Assistant General Manager, Project of Hysan Development Company Limited, and Dr Daniele Gambero, President of Malaysia PropTech Association, facilitated by Ms Rosaline Lau, Executive Director of AECOM.   In a discussion on how the real estate industry is driving technological innovations to benefit communities from Hong Kong to wider regions like Malaysia, the panel invited Hysan as one of the speakers to share its extensive adoption of Multi-trade Integrated Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MiMEP) at Lee Garden Eight as a pioneering effort in sustainable construction. Not only does it enable seamless on-site installation of modules prefabricated off-site to enhance construction efficiency and site safety, it also alleviates skilled labour shortage and reduces material wastage. Our collaboration with various stakeholders, from consultants to suppliers, has been crucial in advancing our commitment to innovation in sustainable construction.   We look forward to sharing more with the industry as we continue to pursue sustainable construction methods harnessing green building technology!   #ReThink2024 #GreenBuildingTechnology #PropTech #MiMEP #SustainableConstruction #LeeGardenEight #IndustryCollaboration

  • This Mid-Autumn Festival wasn't just about mooncakes and lanterns, but also a gentle reminder of loved ones waiting for our safe return, especially in the construction industry where risks abound. Centred around the theme “以你為傲,安全回家” (Proud of You, Back Home Safely), the Health and Safety Awareness Family Day, organised by Hysan Development and Hip Hing Construction Company Limited, brought together over 200 participants, including our Lee Garden Eight construction site workers and their families. The event opened with Mr Ricky Lui, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Hysan Development, Mr Chu Tat-chi, Managing Director of Hip Hing Construction, Ir Dr Lo Wai-kwok, Member of the Legislative Council and Ms Fay Siu Sin-man, Chief Executive of the Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to their support and valuable insights shared with the participants. Packed with safety-focused activities, participants engaged in simulated work-at-height scenarios and VR safety demonstrations. The Family Day wrapped up with a site exercise and a message board where families expressed heartfelt support for their loved ones on site. #Hysan #AroundLeeGardens #SafetyFirst #LeeGardenEight

  • [Therapy Dogs: Enriching Lives and Learning] Dogs, often hailed as humans’ best friends and lifelong companions, bring joy and warmth into our lives in many ways. Last Saturday, Hysan's colleagues had a great time with Snazy, DingDing, and Kaya, three therapy dogs, alongside children with special needs. We learnt new ways to interact while playing tricks with the dogs and kids. The afternoon was filled with joy as we got acquainted with canine-assisted tutoring techniques. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Rise Wise Foundation for organising this blissful event, leaving us all with warm heart and happiness! #Hysan #Volunteering #TherapyDogs #Community #Happiness

[The ‘Foolish’ Visionary Who Created Present-Day Causeway Bay] A hundred years ago Mr Lee Hysan bought 'a hill with two houses'. At the time, many probably thought the purchase was a dreadful financial mistake as Hong Kong was going through a strike-laden 1920s. Little did they know it was the creation of the present-day Lee Gardens and Causeway Bay, one of the world’s most vibrant commercial districts. Following the recent publication of the book about the Lee family’s history, Hysan Development co-organised a book forum with Bei Shan Tang Foundation last Saturday. The authors of the book, Dr Zheng Wan Tai and Dr Ong Kok Chung, were invited to give a talk on an insider’s look at the research process. They shared how fragmented historical facts were meticulously sewn together to form the basis of this very-readable book that highlights the Lee family’s, and indeed, Hong Kong’s growth in the past century. We are grateful to the authors for their dedication in uncovering lesser-known stories about the family and the city. A fruitful afternoon of local history was had by all who attended. #Hysan #Hysan100 #AroundLeeGardens #History #BookForum

[Empower Youth with Rugby] With the aim of developing physical and mental growth for pupils aged 3 to 8, the Wellness Programme in Lee Gardens delivers game-based rugby training in partnership with Gai Wu Rugby Football Club. Recently, outdoor sessions have been integrated into the programme, extending beyond the covered playground at Lee Garden Three. We saw young athletes shine in a friendly session with Hong Kong East Rugby Football Club, demonstrating remarkable teamwork and sportsmanship. The sessions also turned into family fields for parents and siblings to have a whale of a time. Believing in how sports foster personal growth from a young age, Hysan will continue to create an inclusive environment that nurtures passion for rugby in the next generation! #Hysan #LeeGardensHK #AroundLeeGardens #Community #Wellness #hkrugby #AGameForAll

[Holistic Approach to Placemaking] Last Friday, we shared a keynote on our placemaking journey at the CPD seminar ‘A Multi-Disciplinary Dialogue in Public Space’. Titled '100 Years of Placemaking at Lee Gardens', the keynote focused on Hysan’s ongoing efforts to rejuvenate the Lee Gardens Area, including architectural, interior, and streetscape enhancement works, as well as the curation of experiences and community activities. Participants gained insights into the impacts of placemaking on communities’ holistic well-being. At Hysan, we believe in creating vibrant, people-centric communities that enhance the urban landscape for the greater good. We would like to thank the organisers, Young Landscape Architect's Group of The Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects, Young Member Committee of The Hong Kong Institute of Architects, and Planning & Development Division of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, for hosting the seminar, where we exchanged ideas and insights through fruitful dialogues on public space paradigms. #Hysan #AroundLeeGardens #Placemaking
