We are thrilled to report the Joint Seminar on Decarbonisation in Civil Engineering and E&M System Design, which was co-organized by IMechE Hong Kong Branch & Institution of Civil Engineers Hong Kong Association (ICE HKA) & HKU Mechanical Department and held on 7 Sep 2024, was a great success. 4 distinguished speakers were invited to enlighten us on a range of decarbonisation topics, covering the building life cycle from strategy, design through to construction and operation and share their latest effort in achieving carbon neutrality.🥳🥳 👏Mr Barry LAU shared operational improvement opportunities (OIOS) for various equipment and showcased the practical mitigation measures to achieve system optimization through Retro-commissioning. 👏Mr Tim W. imparted his insights on infrastructure decarbonisation and highlighted the key points of using PAS2080 for infrastructure in the life cycle carbon management process and regulatory frameworks. 👏Mr Colin Chung provided his perspective on Cradle to Cradle Design approach. He expressed his views on the decarbonisation in both demand and supply sides and low carbon emission technologies. 👏Mr Samuel WU presented a successful sustainable Design, Build and Operate project that aim to achieve carbon neutrality. His insights encompassed the strategies related to passive design, sustainable procurement, carbon capture utilisation and Storage (CCUS) technology and digital technologies. The joint seminar not only facilitates the exchange of ideas between Civil & Mechanical participants but also broadens their knowledge base.
