At Matilda International Hospital, our commitment to patient-centered care goes beyond words—it is demonstrated every day through our core values. These principles, which we call Our Ways of Being, actively shape our compassionate and innovative community: • Be Empathetic: Show we care in every interaction. • Be Innovative: Embrace new ideas to advance our care. • Be Inspirational: Let passion fuel our commitment. • Be Proactive: Take initiative in every aspect of healthcare. • Be Professional: Uphold integrity in every action. To deepen our colleagues' understanding and practice of these values, we recently hosted a Fun Day for all staff across various departments. It was a day filled with games and challenges, designed not only to reinforce our values but also to foster team bonding and make Matilda a fun and engaging place to work. #MatildaHospital #FunDay #5WaysofBeing #WorkCulture #EmployeeEngagement #TeamMatilda

[Matilda in History] During World War II, Matilda International Hospital had a red cross painted on every roof. However, the hospital was still attacked and received 97 direct hits from bombs and shells. All patients were moved down into the hospital basement, which had four-foot-thick stone walls. Together with the staff, they lived there for nearly three weeks with very little food or water, hardly any light, and only rattan chairs and camp beds to sleep on. Above them all the time was the noise of the bombing and shelling. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, the Matilda staff also operated a well-baby clinic in the city’s prisoner-of-war camp, providing much-needed care to infants amid the conflict. The stone walls of Matilda stand today as silent but powerful witnesses to the past, preserving the memory of those turbulent times. Below is a recent image of the walls. #MatildaInternationalHopsital #ThePeak #HongKongHistory #WorldWarII

We are delighted to host a group of 45 local secondary school students at Matilda International Hospital yesterday, accompanied by the HKUMed's team and undergraduate students. This visit gave these teenagers a valuable opportunity to gain insights into the dynamic field of healthcare, aiming to inspire them as the next generation of medical professionals. Greeted by our CEO, Linda Burgoyne, the students attended a doctor-led sharing session and toured our hospital. They explored our advanced medical facilities and gained behind-the-scenes insights into the medical profession. At Matilda, we are committed to nurturing young talent and equipping them with the knowledge and experience needed to pursue a career in medicine. By engaging with students early on, we aim to ignite their passion for healthcare and encourage them to make a meaningful impact in the industry. #MatildaInternationalHospital

Open communication with our colleagues has always been a priority at Matilda International Hospital. In line with this objective, this past Wednesday we held a town hall meeting where our CEO, Linda Burgoyne, along with other management team members, provided updates on the latest developments within the organisation, celebrated our shared successes, and looked ahead to exciting new projects. It was also an excellent opportunity for colleagues from different departments to come together, fostering a sense of community and an open workplace culture. What's more satisfying is that everyone left the event with a full stomach, thanks to the very good food specially prepared by our catering team!

For Pride Month, we reinforced our commitment to LGBTQIA+ health and inclusivity. In collaboration with the HKLGBT Medical Society, we hosted an enlightening seminar on "Highlights of Clinical Issues, Good Practices, and Relevant International Guidances on LGBTQIA+ Health." This event was a valuable opportunity for our team to deepen their understanding and improve the quality of care we provide to our diverse community. To make learning engaging and accessible, we also organized activities that introduced key concepts from the seminar in an interactive way. These activities not only educated but also fostered a sense of community and support. At Matilda International Hospital, we are dedicated to promoting a healthcare environment where everyone feels respected and cared for. Together, we are building a more inclusive future.
