  • 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐔 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐏𝐑𝐒𝐂 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒): 𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 The second PolyU flagship Research Student Conference (PRSC 2024) organised by the Graduate School on 29-30 August, successfully showcased innovative research 💡 🔬 by research postgraduate students and undergraduate researchers 🎓. With around 300 presentations across various disciplines and over 500 attendees 👥, the conference fostered valuable networking within the PolyU research community. During the opening ceremony, Professor Cao Jiannong, Dean of Graduate School, outlined PRSC 2024’s goal of nurturing aspiring researchers through idea exchange 💭 and interdisciplinary collaboration 🤝. Professor Christopher Chao, Vice President (Research and Innovation) emphasised the conference as a platform for equipping participants with skills for innovative research and leadership in specialised areas to advance knowledge and better society. The two-day conference featured keynote presentations, a panel discussion, an industry forum, and networking opportunities. The conference banquet included the Best Paper Award presentation, with winners congratulated by PolyU senior management and sponsor representative of China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec). PRSC 2024 highlighted current research topics and inspired discussions to ignite research passion 📚 and enhance the student learning experience 👍.   • 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 A collaborative workshop was re-introduced by the Graduate School and the English Language Centre (ELC) on 17 October 2024 for PhD and MPhil students to enhance their transferable skills in effective teaching 👩🏫 👨🏫. Led by Mr. Daniel Barlow, the workshop highlighted the significance of thoughtful questioning 🗨️ and student interaction 🗣️ for better subject comprehension. Participants engaged in lively discussions, exchanged insights, and brainstormed solutions to common teaching challenges ✨. In the process, participants collaborated to develop practical strategies and innovative approaches to overcome obstacles such as student disengagement and varying learning styles, aimed at creating a supportive learning environment through combined efforts.
