We were delighted to co-host a seminar with Ireland Japan Chamber of Commerce discussing the changing landscape of tourism and its economic impacts in Japan over the years. It was a great pleasure to connect with clients, IJCC members, and the wider business community in Tokyo. Thanks to everyone who joined us!

On 9th July, the Ireland Japan Chamber of Commerce and Nikkei ScoutAsia, the Chamber’s official Knowledge and Information Partner, cohosted a Briefing and Networking event. Held at the Nikkei headquarters in Otemachi, we were delighted to welcome IJCC members, friends and the wider business community in Tokyo to our second collaboration event with Nikkei ScoutAsia. The briefing session was led by Nikkei Asia Desk Editor Yuichi Nitta on "Japan's Tourism Industry: Change in the Last 10 Years and What’s Beyond". Nitta-san shared an insightful report on the changing landscape of tourism and its economic impacts in Japan over the years. Thank you Nitta-san for a fantastic briefing on this exciting topic that is at the forefront of current news trends. We were also privileged to have Catherine O’Donovan, Deputy Head of Mission, attend the event as a representative of the Embassy of Ireland. Following the briefing, guests networked and exchanged business cards over some light refreshments. We are grateful for all the support from our members and friends of the business community who helped make the event a great success by sharing, promoting and attending the event. Thank you again to the team at Nikkei ScoutAsia for your warm hospitality and for hosting us! All IJCC members have free access to the Nikkei ScoutAsia platform, a Japan-focused premium corporate database and news monitoring service developed by Nikkei and The Financial Times. In her 2024-25 Interim Budget speech, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a significant push to promote electric vehicle (EV) adoption in India. The government plans to support EV manufacturing, establish charging infrastructure, and introduce electric buses for public transport. However, the EV industry's expectations were tempered by a substantial 55.58% cut in the FAME scheme allocation, raising concerns about funding distribution.
