  • The Group fully supports HKSAR Government’s “Scheme on Corporate Summer Internship on the Mainland and Overseas”. This year, we proudly welcomed a cohort of six exceptional students, each embarking on a seven-week internship journey at Operations and Tenant Service teams at Changsha and Chengdu IFS. The internship aims at enhancing their job knowledge, equip them with practical skills and set a foundation for their personal and professional growth through a structured programme. Reflections from our interns: “Living and working in Changsha has given me first-hand experience of China’s latest development trends. It has also provided me with insights into the recent business developments of Hong Kong enterprises in Mainland. This experience has opened up more opportunities and possibilities for my future career planning.”  - 𝘛𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘴, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘒𝘰𝘯𝘨 “During my internship, I gained a deep understanding of the relationship-building between shopping centers and tenants, as well as the daily operation of mall facilities. I am grateful for the valuable opportunity provided by Chengdu IFS. This experience has expanded my professional knowledge and management skills, laying a solid foundation for my future career path.”  - 𝘔𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘥𝘺, 𝘛𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘫𝘪𝘯 𝘕𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 "I am grateful to HKSAR government for the initiative and Changsha IFS for this invaluable internship opportunity. This summer, 40 volunteers from Project WeCan, universities in Hong Kong and Mainland China visited Xiaowupo village in Hebei Province to assist in enhancing local community facilities. Over the eight days, they completed a footbridge, upgraded the village’s plaza and environmental education centre facilities, and completed some wall paintings. Located at Chengde city of Hebei province, Xiaowupo village is four hours away from Beijing. This project marks the 13th Wuzhiqiao’s bridge sponsored by Wharf since the inaugural one in Yunnan in 2011. Mr Li Lei, General Manager of Wharf (China) Investment Company, Limited represented the Group at the completion ceremony on August 10, 2024. How could a trip be complete without a tour around the capital city of Beijing? Before returning to Hong Kong, volunteers visited a number of local sightseeing spots in addition to a special guided tour at one of the Group’s joint venture residential projects - “One LiangMa”. Mr Zhou Shuang Jie, General Manager of Wharf (Beijing) Enterprises Management Limited, enlightened visitors on the making of “One LiangMa” and gave an overview of the real estate market in Beijing. Volunteers found the visit inspiring. Celebrating our Wheelock’s talent for becoming the first HK swimmer across the North Channel   All athletes in the Olympics are heroes inspiring young to chase their dreams. No matter what the result is, they have fully demonstrated their determination, perseverance and will with professional attitude and sportsmanship which are highly respected. They showed us the power of sports to motivate the next generation to reach their full potential.   At Wheelock, we also have a hero colleague who demonstrated his determination and completed an impossible mission. Ryan Leung swam for 14 hours and 4 minutes and successfully crossed the 40km North Channel strait between Northern Ireland and Scotland. That was the longest and most challenging of the Oceans Seven marathon swims and we are very proud of Ryan becoming the first Hong Kong swimmer to ever complete this feat.   Through this marathon swim, Ryan also raised fund to support the Child Development Initiative Alliance (CDIA) , a Hong Kong based NGO assisting underprivileged youth with internship and mentorship opportunities. He hopes his efforts will motivate children from low-income families to chase their dreams and persist through challenging times. It was very heartening and supportive that Ricky Wong, our Vice Chairman & Managing Director also donated $10,000 to support Ryan’s expedition as well as to CDIA.   Last week, our Wheelock family had a chance enjoying Ryan’s sharing about his challenging and interesting experience during the Company’s “Happy Hour”. Once again, congratulations on Ryan’s well-deserved success. His tremendous efforts, courage and perseverance continue our Wheelock Spirit. We thrive together in both life and work.   #WheelockProperties #TheSpiritofLiving #WCulture

To welcome the first 30 interns, a meet-and-greet session was conducted where Interns met Stephen Ng, our Group Chairman and Managing Director and Committee Chairman of Project 𝘞𝘦𝘊𝘢𝘯 Foundation. During the session, Mr Ng encouraged students to embrace a lasting attitude of “3Os”: Open your eyes, Open your mind, Open your heart, and make good use of this internship opportunity to learn from their colleagues and gain work experience. “This programme provides students with a valuable chance to broaden their knowledge in their respective industries and prepare themselves for future employment. Young people are good at mastering new technologies, however, given the rapid advancement of technology, what you learn today may quickly become outdated. Therefore, students should not only focus on current events but also look towards the future,” Mr Ng added. In its 13th year, the programme has benefitted more than 1,800 𝘞𝘦𝘊𝘢𝘯 students. • The “Wharf x Po Chiu Mentorship Programme 2024” has been resumed on 30th May after 5 years! We are delighted to have the Principal of Po Chiu Catholic Secondary School, Ms Yuen Yuk Lan, along with teachers and student mentees, as well as Wharf Holdings’ Director, Mr Kevin Hui and our staff volunteers join us for the first meet-and-greet lunch at the school campus.  The programme aims to foster meaningful connections by pairing Wharf’s staff volunteers with student mentees, providing them with year-long support and exchange through a diverse range of activities on a regular basis. During the kick-off event, an ice-breaking game brought mentors and mentees together to create their unique paper cup plants. It gave a chance for everyone to interact and establish a foundation for their mentoring journey. On 1st June, our mentors and mentees gathered for their first activity over a stage drama "Pas de deux à Hong Kong" as part of the French May Arts Fest. Following the performance, an exclusive backstage tour was arranged for them to understand more stage design and the creative use of props, lighting, smoke, and sound effects. Po Chiu Catholic Secondary School has been Wharf’s Project WeCan partner school since the launch of our flagship Business-in-Community initiative in 2011. The mentorship programme was introduced in 2012 and has benefitted over 130 students so far. #WharfBIC #WharfBusinessinCommunity #ProjectWeCan #WharfxPoChiu #MentorshipProgramme #StaffVolunteers #StudentMentees #AllRoundDevelopment #CommunityEngagement #SchoolPartnership #EducationInnovation #InspireYouth
