Sony's LinkBuds Open earbuds, the latest in a long line of audio doohickeys, have been updated. These "non-occluding donut-drivers" promise all-day comfort and ambient awareness. Sure, they're great for letting in city noise and construction. But if you're looking for a truly immersive listening experience, the music's clarity gets lost in the sea of ambient noise, making it feel like you're trying to listen to a symphony in a cesspool. You'll be cranking it up to eleven just to hear the bass and vocals, risking hearing damage. They’re better to be utilized at home if nobody is vacuuming. To remain oblivious to noise on city streets—and oncoming traffic—the good old occluding buds with ANC will do fine (e.g., Linkbuds Fit). There's no shame in admitting that sometimes, you just need to drown out the world to consume good audio, even at the risk of life and limb. But wait! Before joining Kramer, I spent 12 years in the AV industry working as a system integrator. I serve as the APAC Regional Sales Manager, overseeing markets in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao. My primary responsibility is driving sales, exploring new opportunities, and showcasing how Kramer's solutions can benefit the market. It's a thrilling role, as I encounter different languages, dialects, and cultures. My focus leans heavily on how Kramer's offerings can be integrated into your systems, providing comprehensive solutions. This aligns closely with my past experience as an integrator and my current role. Outside of work, I'm an avid football fan, with Manchester United being my favorite team. I start each day with a morning swim and enjoy watching movies in my downtime, particularly Marvel films, and I even collect Marvel movie merchandise.” - What do you like the most about working at Kramer? “Kramer fosters a culture of flexibility. It’s an interesting time in Wireless Audio. There is a generational change happening. Overnight at IBC Sennheiser announced their WMAS system called Spectra, that offers up to 64 channels of Audio in one TV channel. Shure have also issued a press release about WMAS and supporting the FCC change to legislation and specifically the increase in power levels to 100mW EIRP which Shure lobbied for. Clearly Shure are up to something, but what and when will they announce? Sound Devices have a different slant on clever systems with their Nexus system that receives 32 channels in 1RU and can directly interface to a Digico Optocore network and is already shipping. We are booked to do a presentation on this topic at Entech titled “Wireless Audio – What’s Coming Next?” and covering: Wireless Audio – it’s generational change time, what’s coming? We started with VHF then UHF, we went from Analog to Digital, we’ve got spread spectrum devices. We’ve heard about WMAS; it’s coming, but what is it? There are other really clever formats already here and we’ve got more coming, but will they work together?
