About us
Founded in 1862, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) is Hong Kong's first public utility. Today, we are one of the largest energy suppliers in Hong Kong, operating with world-class corporate management and leading-edge business practices. For the past years, Towngas has been growing with Hong Kong, evolving from the simple gas company supplying fuel for street lamps to our current leading position in the energy industry in the greater China region. Being one of the main business units in Towngas, Commercial & Industrial Marketing & Sales Department (CIMSD) provides a wide range of tailor-made applications, such as catering, central hot water systems and desiccant dehumidifiers to suit the business needs of different industries and trades, with users spanning the restaurants, manufacturing, hotels, hospitals, municipal buildings and theme parks. CIMSD offers free advisory service to help business people profitably utilize town gas. The advisory team provides free professional consultation and makes site visits to advise business enterprises to use town gas in the most efficient way.

Towngas invited a number of celebrity chefs and their families to participate “❄️Frozen Explorers 3K”, as well as representatives from the hotel and laundry industry to participate in “✨Marvel Super Heroes 10K”, enjoying this one-of-a-kind running party event together🏃. 【🌿The 5th Hydrogen Economy Forum 第五屆氫能經濟論壇】 Following the excitement of the Eco Expo Asia event, the 5th Hydrogen Economy Forum (HEF5) held on 31 October 2024 was another premier gathering. The forum focused on the latest policies and technological advancements aimed at promoting the wider adoption of Hydrogen (H2) in Hong Kong, with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and carbon neutrality. Key stakeholders from Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area (GBA), and Mainland China shared their insights on policy directions, project implementations, successes and challenges, cutting-edge technological achievements, pilot projects, and other related topics. 【🌎Eco Asia Conference – Decarbonisation & Expanding the Boundaries of New Energy 亞洲環保會議 — 布局新能源發展版圖 — 突破傳統邊界，開拓未來】 Eco Expo Asia 2024, held from 30 October to 02 November at the Asia-World Expo, is a prominent global trade platform which enables business, partnerships, and advancements in sustainable environmental solutions. This year’s theme is “Fostering Green Innovations for Carbon Neutrality” which facilitates sustainable solution exchange, empowering eco-friendly adoption to address climate change and accelerate the low-carbon transition. On 30 October 2024, 🌎Eco Asia Conference – Decarbonisation & Expanding the Boundaries of New Energy aims to explore the latest advancements, innovative technologies, and groundbreaking research in the field of new energy, with the goal of pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the pursuit of a greener and more resilient energy future. Mr Don Cheng, Head of Commercial – Hong Kong Utility and Head of Sustainable Green Energy Hub, Towngas, participated as panelist and shared his insights on the development of new energy. In the policy address, the Government emphasized its commitment to promoting the use and supply of new energy in sea, land, and air transport to spearhead the green transformation of these sectors. Mr. Cheng discussed how Towngas can contribute to this initiative and the strategies Towngas can employ to accelerate the market adoption of hydrogen as a clean energy solution in Hong Kong.
