We are excited to share the experiences of our colleagues, Stipe Kabić and Ena Aničić, who recently returned from the EEML summer school program. 🌞📚 They had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a dynamic learning environment, collaborating with peers from around the world and gaining valuable insights. Here are their impressions: Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to attend the Eastern European ML summer school in Novi Sad EEML. We spent 6 days in the company of the best deep learning researchers from this part of the world and came away with a ton of new knowledge and inspiration. The wide range of lectures spanned the entirety of deep learning, from topics close to our research such as transformers and VLMs, to areas such as reasoning, reinforcement learning, and geometric deep learning which greatly expanded our understanding of the field. It definitely helped that the lecturers were some of the greatest minds currently working in machine learning. A highlight of the experience for us was the poster sessions, during which the school attendees were able to present their work. We got to see dozens of great research projects done by our peers and chat with the authors about the ones that perked our interest. We also got the opportunity to present our work on music separation architectures and receive thoughts and ideas from many researchers with experience in this area. Another wonderful perk was the chance to meet tons of incredible people, both from our local area and from all around the world. It was an excellent venue for the exchange of knowledge and ideas about deep learning, as well as building meaningful connections during many networking events kindly provided by the sponsors of the school. We would like to thank the organizers Razvan Pascanu, Matko Bošnjak, Nemanja Rakicevic, Petar Veličković, Doina Percup, Viorica Patraucean, Nemanja Rakicevic, Branislav Kisacanin, Dubrovko Ćulibrk, Elvira Šetrajčić,Milica Brkovic for investing their time into creating this experience and providing us with a great learning environment. To anyone wanting to deepen their knowledge about deep learning, we wholeheartedly recommend EEML and we hope to remain a part of this community in the future.
