[New project of INNOVAMARE COMMUNITY] 🌊 This week we had the opportunity to participate in the Roundtable and Conference as part of the ROBONETCBC project! Funded by Interreg IPA HR-BA-ME, project ROBONETCBC focuses on promoting innovative blue technologies that monitor and prevent pollution in marine and freshwater ecosystems. 📉 The roundtable brought together experts to discuss "Examples of best practices in EU and national projects." This engaging dialogue was a perfect opening to the official ROBONETCBC conference held on November 8th, in Šibenik. 🤝 Through collaboration among regional authorities, research institutes, universities, and businesses, this initiative is enhancing environmental practices across Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Led by University of Zadar and project partners Šibensko-kninska županija Ruđer Bošković Institute University of Montenegro Privredna/Gospodarska komora Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine Innovation Fund of Montenegro, key activities include: ➡️assessing current monitoring systems, ➡️creating a joint action plan, ➡️deploying advanced monitoring stations in critical areas. 👏 Great results from DIH Innovamare and Ocean Autonomy Cluster cooperation on the MATIN Project! ➡️ The MATIN Project, funded by EEA grants, is showcasing the powerful impact of collaboration between the Digital Innovation Hub Innovamare and the Ocean Autonomy Cluster. One highlight of this cooperation was a study trip for Norwegian companies to Croatia, leading to valuable connections that have resulted new joint initiatives. 🤝 This exchange fostered collaboration between Ocean Access, LIST LABS , and BlueDataB, creating opportunity for a new EEA-funded project. Ocean Access has now launched a research project in Croatia that combines hyperspectral satellite data with in-depth ocean measurements, aiming to uncover critical insights into marine phenomena, such as algae blooms. "This collaboration emerged during our trip to Croatia, organized by the Ocean Autonomy Cluster, where we met key partners in the satellite data field," says Ocean Access CTO Fredrik Lilleøkdal. Ocean Access CEO Andreas Mauritzen emphasizes the project’s potential to make physical monitoring more scalable and cost-effective, with results expected in just four months. 🌎 This partnership is a true testament to the power of cluster collaboration, strengthening cross-border innovation between Norway and Croatia. Through MATIN, companies from both Croatia and Norway are actively engaged in developing, testing, and validating marine technologies, promoting joint investments in the blue economy, shared patents, and cutting-edge applied research. At a recent meeting in Dubrovnik, our CEO, Mateo Ivanac, had the privilege of participating in discussions with the distinguished Professors Carlos Duarte and Sandra D. 🌎 Professor Duarte’s research focuses on understanding the effects of global change in marine ecosystems and developing nature-based solutions to global challenges, including climate change, as well as developing evidence-based strategies to restore the abundance of marine life by 2050. 📉 Professor Damijan focuses on advancing innovative financial models that support the sustainable management of natural resources and is known for her expertise in linking environmental preservation with economic growth. ➡️ A key focus of the meeting was the role of the DIH Innovamare innovation ecosystem and technological innovation, in particular the use of marine technologies to combat marine pollution and improve marine ecosystems. 🤝 This was a first step towards future joint ventures to monitor and prevent global change in marine ecosystems and to explore deep-sea biodiversity using innovative marine technologies.
