We are honored to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious Qualitec Design Award 2025 at the SEATEC exhibition in Carrara for our latest project ECOcube. ECOcube represents a significant advancement in sustainable maritime technology. As a floating facility, it is designed to receive wastewater and solid waste from vessels while providing them with desalinated water. Constructed from natural fibers and bioepoxy resin, ECOcube operates autonomously, powered by batteries and solar panels, and is remotely monitored through integrated sensors. This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility, positioning ECOcube as a pioneering solution in the maritime industry. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Innovation Norway for recognizing the potential of the ECOcube project, co-financing its development, and supporting its realization. https://lnkd.in/dTthH7NH “A simple, highly effective, well-engineered idea that is easy to realize and produce, providing a substantial and important contribution in response to the growing and necessary attention to the green aspects of maritime activities (nautical tourism). There is an increasing demand for easy, immediate, and widespread solutions that ensure care and respect for the marine environment, preventing the waste inevitably produced on board from contributing to the ecological footprint left along the sailing route. The Qualitec jury, in this edition, aims to capture, highlight, and recognize the broadest sense of the term “design,” which marks and characterizes the process by which an idea, function, and its transformation into a concrete, usable, and functional object come together to form a solid and simple means to reduce coastal pollution. The "ECO cube" is a floating unit, available in various sizes and capacities, that is energetically self-sufficient thanks to its solar panels and an electrical system with onboard storage batteries. It can be towed and positioned wherever desired, allowing anyone passing through a bay, anchorage, or unserviced tourist mooring to easily discharge the "waste water" from their boat. It also enables the safe disposal of all types of differentiated waste generated daily on board and allows for refilling with fresh water (thanks to the continuously operating desalination unit), all by simply scanning a QR code to activate the desired service. An excellent realization, deserving of success—simple and well-conceived: the pontoon hosts containers for sorted solid waste, a standardized system (ISO) for the vacuum discharge of onboard black water, and a freshwater reservoir holding several thousand liters, continuously renewed thanks to the desalination unit and the electrical system (100% renewable energy) for continuous operation.” Luciano Beg

📣 Meet one of the partners of TOFOLA project: Marservis d.o.o. 📌TOFOLA (https://lnkd.in/dR82By-a) is an EU co-funding project which focuses on developing sustainable tourism based on the historical shipbuilding heritage of the Serenissima Republic of Venice. It aims to diversify tourism in the Northern Adriatic, promote lesser-known destinations, ensure equal access to cultural heritage, and enhance environmental sustainability by redistributing tourist flows. Today we introduce one of the partners: Marservis d.o.o. ➡️The company is engaged in small shipbuilding and is specialized in the production of vessels ranging from 6 to 14 meters in length. New projects of a company are - green and ecological shipbuilding, innovations for removing marine litter. Construction materials that company use in production process are fiberglass and polyester resin, natural fibers (flax) and bio-epoxy resin. Production process consists of hand lay-up, chopper (semi-automatic fiber application) and vacuum infusion. In TOFOLA project MARSERVIS will play a key role by facilitating activities to promote the sustainable commercialization of traditional wooden boat designs for tourism. The company will coordinate a study visit to its shipyard, showcasing best practices, and organize a boat launching ceremony for the project prototype. MARSERVIS will also lead the development of a feasibility study to assess the prototype's commercial viability and create guidelines for reconstructing historical boats. Additionally, it will host networking events like a business café with shipyards and manage procurement of materials, technology, and equipment for prototype development. 👉 More about us : https://marservis.hr ℹ️ The international consortium managing the project is made up of the following organisations: CENTRO CONSORZI HTLab Veneto Agricoltura Legno Servizi - Cluster Forestale del FVG Marservis d.o.o. Inspiring Plant-Based Passenger Ferry Sets Sail Bcomp Ltd is very pleased to announce that an eco-catamaran partially built with Bcomp’s flax-fibre composite ampliTex™ has begun ferrying passengers around the Port of Rovinj in the Adriatic Sea this summer. The first of its kind, the solar-powered PROeco vessel is the result of a two-and-a-half-year collaboration between Bcomp and Croatia-based marine manufacturer Marservis d.o.o.. Bcomp’s high-performance bio-composite material was used in the construction of almost all non-structural and semi-structural components of the vessel, including the bulkheads, seats, ceiling and side linings — and some parts of the floor. These parts were manufactured by combining ampliTex™ laminate with infusion bio-based epoxy resin through vacuum infusion and a resin transfer molding process. With capacity for 100 passengers and two crew, the PROeco is being used on short, defined routes for more than ten hours daily. The use of electric motors has resulted in a savings of 770 kg of harmful diesel emissions each day. The innovative bio-based material used in place of standard glass, polyester and vinylester has also reduced emissions related to the manufacture of those fossil fuel-derived materials and offers enhanced end-of-life options. #PlantBased #Ferry #Shipping Read more including comments from Paolo Dassi Marine & Industry Manager of @Bcomp here: https://lnkd.in/e4hFvWKz
