🚢 Driving Progress: Ongoing Development at the Port of Šibenik! 🔧 As a part of the project "Modernization of the Port of Šibenik Area", we’re deepening the seabed to a consistent depth of 10 meters across the cargo zone. This enhancement will accommodate all vessels able to navigate the Šibenik waters, significantly boosting navigational safety and operational capacity. 🌊 With an investment of approximately 3 million euros, the project is progressing well - buoys are already installed, and we’re working on foundations for the upcoming anchorage. 💼 This milestone follows recent approval from the Croatian Government, which granted essential funding to drive these improvements forward. #PortOfŠibenik #PortOfŠibenikAuthority #InfrastructureInvestment #MaritimeSafety #Dredging #CargoPorts #MaritimePort #DalmatianMaritimePorts

What a wonderful visit to beautiful #Šibenik this week – a unique Croatian city that manages to combine celebrating and revitalizating its long and rich history with sustainability and liveablity goals for today’s and tomorrow’s citizens. My visit started with a very special evening organized by the #Croatian #Police #Ministarstvounutarnjihposlova Republike Hrvatske to thank and celebrate all the participants of the #SafeTouristDestination, an initiative now already in its 19th year. The Croatian hosts had made every effort to make the representatives of the 22 participating countries feel welcome, with music and visual spectacle. Among the speakers were Deputy Prime Minister Davor Božinović and General Police Director of the Croatian Police Nikola Milina, emphasizing the great importance Croatia attaches to keeping visitors safe. It was my pleasure to meet the representatives of the Dutch police #PolitieNederland there. This is the second year of our participation, where Dutch police officers work together with their Croatian counterparts to support, assist and inform Dutch tourists in Croatia #Split #ULTRAEurope #Kroatie. A beautiful example of successful international cooperation. #Nederlandwereldwijd #HonorairConsul The next morning I had the honour to meet with Mayor Željko Burić of Šibenik, who shared his vision for Šibenik. Not only is Šibenik a wonderful place to visit for tourists from the Netherlands, the city’s strong drive for #sustainable development offers interesting opportunities for Dutch entrepreneurs. Next stop, the construction site of the new passenger terminal in the Port of Šibenik. Thank you to Sunčana Rapaić, Director Croatia of the Dutch company de Architekten Cie. and architect and author of the project, and Paško Dželalija, Director of the Port of Šibenik Authority / Lučka uprava Šibenik. Even though construction is still in full swing, it's already very clear that the terminal will be a beautiful, airy and shaded place for ferry travelers to depart and arrive from, and for passers-by to enjoy a rest and a coffee. And finally, I brought a visit to the #TrokutIncubator in Šibenik where I was warmly welcomed Diana Mudrinić, CEO of New Technologies (and who studied in the #Netherlands #VrijeUniversiteitAmsterdam and may have gotten some of her inspiration there 😊!) and her colleagues Ivan Šoda and Ana Vlaić. They and their team work with enormous enthusiasm to make Trokut Incubator a fantastic place for coworking, office space, education #NEET #STEM and #reskilling, #entrepreneurship, #IT community, and a great hub for #DigitalNomads.

🌟 The first cruise ship entered the Port of Šibenik 180 years ago and started the development of tourism in Dalmatia! 🌟 Šibenik, often called "Krešimir's city", nestled in the heart of Dalmatia, holds a special place in history. Back in the 19th century, it kickstarted the region’s tourism development. 🏖️ On June 28th, 1884, the majestic Austrian vessel “Imperator” sailed into Šibenik port, carrying 153 passengers. But these weren’t ordinary travelers—they were pleasure seekers, explorers, and connoisseurs of leisure. 🚢 According to historical records uncovered by Šibenik’s chronicler Darko Gulin, these passengers embarked on a smaller boat, venturing toward the enchanting Krka National Park. 🌊 Fast forward to today: cruise tourism continues to thrive, thanks to the crucial role played by the Port of Šibenik Authority that ensured essential infrastructure for welcoming cruise ships. 🛳️ In Tarragona, Spain, the Port Authority recently showcased Šibenik’s key attractions and cruise port facilities during the 64th MedCruise General Assembly. Dozens of fruitful B2B meetings with renowned cruise companies and cruise-focused journalists followed. 🌅 In honor of the important anniversary, the Šibenik Tourist Board prepared a similar boat tour from Šibenik to celebrate the route that marked the beginning of tourism in Dalmatia. 🚢 🍽 🍷 🌊 Let's celebrate this milestone and the legacy of “Imperator”—a vessel that marked the beginning of Dalmatia’s tourism journey! 🎉 #PortOfŠibenik #PortOfŠibenikAuthority #MaritimePort #DalmatianMaritimePorts #CruiseDestination #CruiseTourism #MedCruise #Tourism #Dalmatia
