🎉 Ganz joins Romania’s #Vidraruproject! 🎉 7️⃣ We are delighted to announce that in September our company agreed with Hidroelectrica, Romania’s main electricity provider to produce seven 45MVA, 245kV, single-phase transformers for the Vidraru dam! Why is it a huge deal? 👉 The Vidraru dam, where the Vidraru Hydroelectric Power Plant operates, is the largest arched dam in Romania, the 8th highest in Europe, and the 20th-highest in the world. 👉 The Vidraru project is key in upgrading Romania’s hydropower infrastructure, with investments of around €188 million for the plant's refurbishment. 👉 The renovation of the Vidraru power plant will not only increase Romania's renewable energy production capacity but also have a positive impact on the functioning of the overall energy production system. Why 7 single-phase transformers? 👉 The 7 single-phase transformers will operate in small cells below the ground (i.e. the dam), in small and tight cells. This is also the reason why they will be single-phase instead of the usual three: this is the only way they will fit in the passages under the dam through which they will be transported into the cells. 👊 Thank you to Hidroelectrica for their trust and cooperation, we look forward to working on this very exciting project! 👏 Congratulations to Lajos Harai, our Sales Manager for sealing the deal. Someone just found their way home.. 🏡 Earlier this month, our 366.7 MVA, 750 kV insulated transformer was put to its base in the Szabolcsbáka substation, where together with two other Ganz transformers of the same type will form a three-phase system with a capacity of 1100 MVA.
