Strategic Marketing for Innovative Firms: Customer research | Market entry | Marketing communications
Do you have a startup idea so good, that if you go public, everybody will want to steal it? Here is the SOLUTION: You think that: ▶️ Great business ideas are hard to come by. ▶️ But finally the muses have blessed you. ▶️ Many people would copy it. It's THAT good. ▶️ You hear big guys steal from little guys all the time. ▶️ You need to protect it from day 1. ▶️ NDAs, IP protection, caution. But what is a product idea worth? If someone can steal your idea and be more successful than you... Do you really have a team that is the best suited to solve the problem you are trying to solve? If no. If someone can just steal your idea, why don't you do something about it? And make your team to: 1️⃣ Have the best understanding of the problem. 2️⃣ Know the customers the most. 3️⃣ Be the best problem solvers. The idea in itself is nothing. Statistically, the chance of only you figuring it out is very low. So the only way is to be obsessed with the customer, their problem, and execution. If you don't believe me on this, check out the quotes I've put in comments from much smarter people than me. And what do you think? Is this fear of idea theft really unjustified? 💬👇 Ps.: Please like this post if found useful. 🥰

Don't listen to your customers on this. It's not gonna work out. I've learned it on the hard way. Founders, don't obey your customers on what kind of solution they want. The truth is: The customer knows their problem. But not the solution that they want. It's so easy to fall into this trap. Sometimes I do it too. And I see it with clients all the time: ▶️ If the customer says so, it must be true. ▶️ If they ask for it, they will pay for it too. ▶️ They know what they want to see. ▶️ Nice to haves = must-haves. What to do instead: Ask the customer about their problems. Not on the solution. That's your job as a founder to develop. And then show it to them. Something tangible. It will become the vessel of your understanding of their problem space and your problem-solving skills. That's your (value) proposition. If they accept, good. If not, even better. You got market feedback on where to iterate. Sure, ask them what solution would they love to see. But mostly not to inform your product roadmap. ▶️ But to ask them"WHY" ◀️ You'll get a lot of context on their problems, processes, and thinking from their answers. And that's GOLDEN! With that knowledge, you can develop an offer so good that your customer will ask: "Where were you until now?!?" 🟢 What do you think, do you know instances, when the customer knows what they want? 💬 Ps.: Please like this post if you think it's useful.

🩸 Today we put our support into action! 🩸 Our CEO, Richard Bavlsík visited the Hungarian Red Cross and proudly donated blood to support their life-saving mission. Every day, the Red Cross needs 1600-1800 donors to keep the blood supply steady - and we’re honored to help make a difference. Big thanks to our partner, StartUp Online, for raising awareness of this important cause. There’s strength in the startup community - let’s keep showing it! 💉❤️ Ps.: You can still donate blood today until 6pm!😉 Magyar Vöröskereszt #InnoMakerPartners #donateblood #savelives #startupcommunity #Vöröskereszt

"My product is so valuable, but people don't buy it." - It's because you've got it all wrong. I show you how: Confession: I've been tinkering with this idea of how to make content on value for a while. A very basic, but totally, utterly essential concept in marketing. Yet, I see a lot of people who are completely unaware. The rationale is as follows: 1. You, as a business, don't create value. 2. You only create a value proposition. 3. It becomes THE value when a customer chooses so. 4. That it is valuable to THEM. 5. As a result, value creation must be informed by the context and expectations of the customer. 6. This dynamic is called value co-creation. 7. You are co-creating value with your customer. 8. The power is not yours. Nor theirs. 9. You need each other. Value is a benefit or a set of benefits bundled together. These benefits can be: 🟢 Utilitarian - more money, better specifications 🟢 Learning - feeling of personal development 🟢 Symbolic - connection to self-image 🟢 Enjoyment - fun, experiences, UI 🟢 Social - community, status The value mix differs for every industry, product, segment, and even individual customer. ✅ Implications for everydays: Uncover the entire value mix of the customer (beyond just utilitarian benefits). Different phases of the journey can have different value bundle requirements. Discover these, and you win sustainable growth. Marketing and brand activities that elicit value are part of the value proposition (so not just the product). You can charge a premium by increasing the overall value perception through marketing activities. But you have to, at all times, keep the perceived sacrifice of price below the perceived value. This is how you charge a "fair price" or a "bargain", even when your margins are enormous ➡️ If you understand this concept. And I mean REALLY understand it. To your bone. It will change how you see marketing and business. Ps.: Please like this post if you found it useful. 😊

THE must-read tips for doing customer discovery interviews as an early-stage startup. 🚀 I've learned interviewing in the PhD program. I conducted interviews for scientific research projects. I conducted interviews for a ton of firms for market research and customer discovery. Here is my advice: Use the funnel structure: from broad topics to specifics. Repeat what they said with your words for clarification. Never embed in your question what you want to hear. Never tell them the problem you are curious about. Use an interview framework not a fixed script. Make them share stories of past behavior. Ask open-ended but leading questions. Beware of confirmation bias. Share the post if useful. 🤝

✨ When startups meet industry leaders, great things happen! Yesterday, we had the opportunity to attend MVM Edison Demo Day, where five talented teams took the stage to pitch their projects, spanning diverse topics from HR and energy solutions to protective workwear systems.💡 This year, MVM Edison transitioned from a startup competition into an incubator program, offering an incredible platform for startups to connect with a large company like MVM. 🤝 We had engaging conversations, met some new people, but we also had a chance to reconnect with familiar faces like Zsombor Bohm from our partner, Quantum Digitális Diákszövetkezet. We enjoyed a few selfies at the photo booth (as you can see below😄), shared a couple of drinks, and strengthened our bonds within the innovation ecosystem. 📸 A big thank you to Dorka Végvári - Gerencsér for the invitation and for organizing such a dynamic event! What do you think is the most important factor for successful collaboration between startups and large companies? Let us know your thoughts! 👇 #InnoMakerPartners #MVMEdison #demoday #startupecosystem #innovation
