Inscribed in 2008 (3.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (originally proclaimed in 2001)

Title EN: Dating back to the fourteenth century, the triangular Jemaa el-Fna Square has become the symbol of Marrakech, protected as part of Morocco’s artistic heritage since 1922. It features a unique concentration of traditions, such as storytelling, healing and various forms of entertainment as well as commercial activities.
Title FR: Construite XIe siècle, la place Jemaa el-Fna est devenue un symbole de Marrakech et bénéficie d’une protection depuis 1922, au titre de patrimoine artistique du Maroc. Elle offre une concentration unique de traditions, comme les récits des conteurs, la médecine traditionnelle ou diverses formes de divertissements ainsi que d’activités commerciales.
Title ES: Abierta en el siglo XIV, la plaza triangular Jemaa el-Fna se ha convertido en el símbolo de Marrakech y goza de protección oficial desde 1922 como elemento del patrimonio artístico de Marruecos. Presenta una singular concentración de tradiciones: narraciones orales, curaciones y diversas actividades comerciales y de entretenimiento.
