Beleaf Farms at UBS Tech Connect SEA: Discussing AgTech Solutions We were recently invited to speak at the UBS Deep Tech conference and on The AI Show for Circle One by UBS in Singapore. These events focused on exploring how technology can address real-world challenges. The discussion was facilitated by a UBS equity strategist, Sundeep Gantori, attended by Beleaf Farm’s Amrit Lakhiani, WIZ.AI’s Jianfeng, and SpeQtral’s Chune Yang Lum. During the discussions, Amrit Lakhiani, our CEO, highlighted the numerous agricultural issues in Indonesia, including an inefficient supply chain, climate concerns, and manpower shortages. Beleaf Farms Partners with Universitas Brawijaya to Produce High-Quality Seeds Achieving quality crop yields requires a multi-faceted approach. Factors like a well-functioning irrigation system, fertile soil, optimal fertilizer application, and, most importantly, high-quality seeds all play crucial roles. Recognizing the significance of seed quality, Beleaf Farms has joined forces with University of Brawijaya, a leading agricultural university in Indonesia. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on April 1, 2024, at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya Malang, aims to deliver superior seeds to Beleaf's partner farmers. "This partnership is expected to produce exceptional seeds, ensuring long-term sustainability in terms of both production and harvest quality for our partner farmers," stated Amrit Lakhiani, CEO of Beleaf Farms. The initial focus of the collaboration will be on the Baby Kenya Bean (BFB) variety. By choosing BFB, the project seeks to establish seed traceability throughout the production process while simultaneously striving to boost overall productivity. Universitas Brawijaya was selected for this partnership due to its well-deserved reputation as one of the top three agricultural universities in Indonesia. The university boasts a strong research and development program specifically geared towards mass agricultural seed production. The BFB seed itself is a prime example, being one of the many superior legume (bean) varieties developed by Universitas Brawijaya. This partnership, initiated in March 2024, is projected to last for the next two to three years. As a first step, BFB seeds have undergone R&D (Research and Development) testing on Universitas Brawijaya's land. Amrit Lakhiani expressed optimism for the future, stating, "There's a strong possibility that we will expand our seed production to encompass superior varieties of other crops, catering to the evolving needs of our partners at Beleaf."
