It's hard to believe that just a few years ago, this lush landscape was a rocky field in Sumba’s wild western cape. We transformed this area by planting thousands of endemic Sumbanese plants from our own nursery. These plants adapt easily to the Karoso land and require minimal water, helping us to create shade while preserving water resources in the area. Developing this 6-hectare plot with over 10,000 sqm of built space, including 44 rooms and 20 villas, wasn't a walk in the park (and it’s an understatement!). But it's rewarding to see how the landscape has reconnected the property with its natural environment, transforming Cap Karoso into a landmark in Sumba. Fabrice Ivara
