On September 25th and October 2nd, I had the privilege of returning to my alma mater, Prodi Teknik Fisika - ITB, as a guest lecturer on "Proposal Design." This session is part of the TF4001 – Capstone Design Projects course, where students tackle real-world challenges prepared by their lecturers. During the early stages of the course, students are tasked with creating proposals to solve these problems, ultimately transforming their ideas into viable products or systems. I was thrilled to share insights from my experience in the systems integration field at PT Granitor Systems APAC, guiding them on how to craft effective proposals. Teaching this class to fourth-year students was an opportunity to provide an industry perspective for our future engineers. Successful UAT and Training for PT PLN Nusantara Power’s Monitoring Dashboard using Ignition by Inductive Automation We’re pleased to share that we’ve completed both the User Acceptance Test (UAT) on August 12th, 2024 and an in-depth training session on August 13-15th, 2024 for the "Performance Monitoring Dashboard Development for PT PLN Nusantara Power" project. These steps ensure that the dashboard is well-equipped to support enhanced operational monitoring at PLN Nusantara Power. 🛠 UAT Overview: During the UAT, we rigorously tested the dashboard’s features and interface to ensure it aligns perfectly with user needs, setting the stage for effective implementation. 🎓 Training Highlights: Our training focused on building the PLN NP team’s capabilities in managing this data-driven dashboard. We covered key aspects from database structure to advanced scripting, ensuring that the team can confidently handle future updates and adjustments with minimal disruption. Topics included: 1. Tag and UDT Definition – Streamlining data retrieval from the database. 2. Dynamic Component Binding – Building responsive templates driven by live data. 3. Breadcrumb Navigation – Enabling smooth navigation with a clear hierarchy. 4. Data Visualization Binding – Utilizing Apex Charts (3rd party module) for clear, actionable insights. Security – Protecting access with credentials-based controls. 💡 Key Project Components: 1. Tag and UDT for precise data structuring 2. Dynamic visual scripting for an adaptable user experience 3. 🎉 Excited to Share Our Latest Project at PT Granitor System APAC: Integrating HVAC Systems with Ignition, PLC, and Simatic Manager! 🚀 I'm thrilled to announce the successful completion of a project where I, along with Een . and Muhammad Hikhal Fadhilah integrated an advanced HVAC system at PT Granitor Systems APAC. We combined our skills to overcome various challenges, under the guidance of our mentors, Achmadun Habibullah and Muhammad Reza Firdaus. We designed the P&ID using Simatic Manager, laying the groundwork for the system. For real-time monitoring, we integrated Ignition Perspective, and used Modbus TCP and ModSim to ensure seamless communication between the HVAC system and PLCs. PostgreSQL was employed for data management, capturing sensor readings and maintenance records. Additionally, we implemented custom scripts in Ignition to automate key processes, enhancing system responsiveness and scalability. During this internship, I learned a great deal, not only from working on this project but also from understanding the broader aspects of engineering documentation. I gained valuable experience in creating Business Requirement Specifications, which are essential for defining and solving engineering problems before execution. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished as a team and excited about future projects in industrial automation. I am thrilled to announce the completion of my internship at PT Granitor Systems APAC . During this period, I had the opportunity of collaborating with my esteemed colleagues, Salwa Dewi Hasanah Caniko and Een to design and implement a comprehensive solution for a demo project titled "Integration of an HVAC System for an Electrical Room." This project involved the automation and integration of peripherals within the HVAC system, with a particular focus on the chiller system, to regulate the temperature within an electrical room, ensuring a stable environment and optimal performance of the electrical equipment housed within. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 - System Architecture We meticulously designed the network architecture for the system integration, identifying the appropriate network types and protocols to be employed. - Bill of Materials (BOM) We compiled a detailed Bill of Materials, specifying all necessary components required to implement the HVAC system, including main devices, controllers, I/O modules, communication processors, and other essential equipment. - Programming with Simatic Manager The PLC S7-400 was programmed using Simatic Manager, enabling us to perform internal testing via PLCsim to ensure the robustness of the program. - Modbus TCP Protocol Modbus TCP Protocol was utilized for specific network segments, chosen for its efficiency in compact data transfer and secure communication. - PID Control Implementation in Valve Adjustment We implemented PID control to regulate the valve adjustments for cold air supply within the Air Handling Unit (AHU) as part of the chiller system. - Ignition for Web-Based SCADA To facilitate easy monitoring and operation of the HVAC system, we developed a responsive, web-based SCADA system using Ignition software. - PostgreSQL as Database PostgreSQL was integrated with the SCADA system to store critical data from sensor logging, including timestamps, to ensure data accuracy and availability. - Communication Skills Effective communication was key in conveying the project's technical aspects to stakeholders, ensuring that the solution was well-understood and accepted. In addition to the main project, we also contributed to various document management tasks, including the preparation of the Project Quality Plan, Business Requirement Specification, and Business Solution Design. I extend my sincere gratitude to our mentors, Achmadun Habibullah and Muhammad Reza Firdaus, for their invaluable guidance and trust in us. I also extend my deepest gratitude to all my colleagues who have accompanied me throughout the internship program. Internship Experience at PT Granitor Systems APAC During my internship, I was involved in a project to develop an HVAC system using Simatic Manager and Ignition. With Simatic Manager, I learned to program and configure PLC systems to control various elements of the HVAC system, including creating ladder diagrams and PID controllers. In terms of SCADA, I utilized Ignition to develop a web-based user interface that allows for real-time monitoring and control of the HVAC system, as well as data management from various sensors and controllers. I also implemented the Modbus TCP/IP communication protocol to ensure efficient communication between the HVAC system and the PLC. Additionally, I used Nettoplcsim to simulate communication between the programmed PLC and the Ignition-based SCADA system. I also learned to create a bill of materials (BOM), system architecture, and gained a deeper understanding of project management through developing a project quality plan. This experience broadened my perspective on the importance of effective project management in ensuring the quality and success of the overall project. Furthermore, I worked on mini-project involving the creation and dissemination of a safe storage system for used batteries. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to PT Granitor Systems APAC for the opportunity to learn and grow in this challenging environment. Special thanks also to my mentors, Muhammad Reza Firdaus and Achmadun Habibullah, for their invaluable guidance and knowledge throughout the internship.
