About us
As the recognised palliative care sector’s institute, AIIHPC is a collaborative of hospices, health and social care services, universities, service user representation and support organisations on the island of Ireland. We work together to advance education, research and practice and influence policy to improve the quality of life for people with palliative care needs and their families. We do this by: • involving people with palliative care needs, their families and communities in improving palliative care services • working to ensure palliative care is available across the healthcare system so people are supported as early as needed • supporting the development of Specialist and Generalist Palliative Care services for everyone who needs them.

Today, we are supporting #Hatson4CPC, helping to raise international awareness of the need for Children’s Palliative Care & the work of CPC services worldwide. So today we would like to highlight the wonderful work of LauraLynn, Ireland's Children's Hospice, who help so many children and families each year. For Palliative Care Week 2024, we had the pleasure of meeting with and hearing the story of Kris and Carla Thompson from Mullingar, Co. Westmeath and their daughter, Lucy who are supported by LauraLynn. International Children's Palliative Care Network.

The personal stories that we are so fortunate to be told each year through the Personal Experience Video Project are first broadcast during Palliative Care Week, but we continue to share these stories long after. They are such an important and effective way to show people what palliative care really is, what it means to those receiving it and their families and the supports available in communities across the island of Ireland. In this video, we hear about bereavement services at Milford Care Centre in Limerick. #pallcareweek
