Happy Diwali from all at Arthur Cox! Diwali, also called Deepavali, is the Hindu festival of lights, with variations celebrated in other Indian religions such as Jainism and Sikhism. It symbolises the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma, light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. #Diwali2024

Throughout October Embrace, our Race and Ethnicity Committee, has hosted internal and external events to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth, aimed at promoting an understanding and appreciation of Black heritage and culture, including a workshop and a book club event last week. At the workshop, university students from African Caribbean and Law Societies joined us to share perspectives on how to break down employment barriers faced by the Black community and how organisations can create a more inclusive culture. At the session, our colleagues provided an information session for the students with insights on planning their career paths. Our regular Embrace book club also hosted a meeting to discuss Deborah Somorin ACA's ‘Believing in Me’ autobiography, which tells her story of overcoming challenges with tenacity.
